Travis Banwart pitched a good game today for his first win of the season, and the Cougars second win in game one of the double header againt Beloit.

Banwart pitched a complete game, seven innings in a double header. He gave up five hits and one run. Travis walked one and struck out four. In his complete game he threw 76 pitches.

It wasnt all easy for him, he had to get out of some trouble. In the first inning with one out, Steve Singleton lined one off of the glove of first baseman Greg Dowling, and into right field for a single. Diebinson Romero then reached on a fielder's choice with Singleton being out at second. Romero stole second. Chris Parmelee then lined one to second to end the inning.

In the second inning with one out, Ramon Santana doubled to center. Greg Yersich walked, the Snappers then put on the double steal. Runners on second and third with one out. Banwart then struck out Daniel Lehmann looking. Mark Dolenc would hit one back to the pitcher to end the inning.

Joe Benson led off the third inning with a double down the left field line. Singleton was then able to bunt him over to third. Romero struck out for the second out. Parmelee then foulded out to third baseman Christian Vitters who made a great play near the stands to get the ball.

The one run that Banwart would give up was in the fifth inning. Lehmann led off then inning with a double to left. Dolenc got Lehmann to third with a ground out to first. Benson hit a fly to right, to allow Lehmann to tag up and score.

Kane County's offense was just good enough to score three runs on five hits. In the second inning, Dowling led off with a double to left. One out later, Vitters was hit by a pitch. One out later, Todd Johnson singled to right to drive home Dowling. The rightfielder overran the ball which would allow Vitters to score.

The other runs the Cougars scored would come in third inning. With one out, Matt Ray triple off the right field wall. He would be picked off of third base for the second out. Corey Brown then singled to right. Dowling walked. Jake Smith singled to right to score Brown. Vitters would strike out looking to end the inning.
