Please tell me that they got it out of thier system today and it wont be like this the rest of the year. The Cougars were three pitches away from losing only a 2-0 game. The only problem with that is that those three pitches resulted in three, three run homers.

The Cougars just got it handed to them today, they had no answer for the Kernels offense. Freddy Sandoval, AaronPeel and Warner Madrigal all hit three run homers. Sean Rodriguez added a solo shot.

Michael Rogers started for the Cougars and after the second inning he just got hammered. Rogers does his best Mitch Williams impresion every pitch, and doesnt seem to have the same arm slot every pitch. In the first inning he got out of the inning with a double play.

The third inning was the begining of the downfall for Rogers. With two outs, Richard Giannotti singled to left. Josh LeBlanc then walked. Sandoval hit a three run homer to right center field to put the Kernels on the board. Sean Rodriguez followed that up three pitches later with a solo shot to left center. Peel then walked, Jordan Renz struck out to end the inning.

Rogers would get through the fourth inning without any problem, then in the fifth he ran into some more fun. With two outs, Sandoval doubled to center. Rodriguez walked. Keith Perez then came onto pitch. The fifth pitch he threw as a Cougar went the other way, out to left field for another three run homer. Perez was able to get Renz to strike out to end the inning.

Perez had more trouble in the sixth. With one out, Madrigal lined one to second. Ryan Ruiz tried to catch the ball and had it hit him in the ankle and roll into center field. Ruiz was taken out of the game and replaced by Kevin Melililo. Tommy Duenas then singled to center. Giannotti would single to left to score Madrigal. Perez got LeBlanc looking for the second out. Sandoval grounded out to end the inning.

Tomas Cabaniel came on to make his debut in the seventh anddidnt fair to well. Granted he struck out the first two men he faced. The Jordan Renz hit a double down the left field line. Clifton Remole then walked. Madrigal hit the Kernels third three run bomb of the game, this time to left field. Cabaniel was able to get Duenas on strikes to get out of the inning.

Conor Robertson came on for the eighth and got the first hitter on a grounder than struck out the next two. Tommy Everidge just keeps on hitting he had three hits today. Including a double. The Cougars were 0 for six with runners in scoring position.

The second inning, Everidge led off with a single off the pitcher. One out later, Long walked. Wayment then hit into an inning ending double play, one runner left on.

In the third inning, Chalon Tietje led off with a single to center. Gregorio Petit then hit into a double play. Nicholas Blasi walked, then stole second. Ryan Ruiz walked. Myron Leslie then hit into a fielder's choice to end the inning. Two runners left on base, three total.

In the fourth inning. Everidge led off with a double to left, then went to third on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Wayment walked. Tietje then reached on a fielder's choice, with Wayment being out at second to end the inning. Two runners left on, five in the game.

In the sixth inning. With one out, Everidge singled to center, he would get to second on a balk. Raul Padron popped out to third for the second out. Wes Long then struck out looking to end the inning. One left one, six for the game.

In the seventh inning. Wayment led it off with a single to first. Tietje then hit into a double play, the Kernels gave him a second chance to get the runner over or in, when the catcher droped a foul pop. Petit lined one to center. The centerfielder dove and just plain missed the ball, and had it roll past him. Petit ended up on second, that would've score at least one run. Blasi then struck out to end the inning. One runner left on, seven for the game.

In the eighth inning with one out. Leslie grounded one back towards the pitcher, he threw it to first and the ball went off of his glove and just past him. The first baseman couldn't find it, and Leslie would end up on second. A wild pitch got him over to third. Everidge grounded out to third for the second out. Travis Chapman had come in for Padron the inning before, and grounded out to second to end the inning. One runner left on, eight for the game.

The Cougars had their chances to at least make it a game, but because of their own luck, or the great play of the Kernels just couldn't get it done today. Everidge, and Robertson both looked good in the game.
