Italiano started out the first three innings running like a Lambroghini. Unfortunatly that Italian sports car, had a flat tire with two outs in the fourth inning. That wouldn't be able to be fixed.

Italiano whipped through the first three innings with seven strikeouts on 45 pitches. In the fourth and the fifth everything just collapsed, as the Cougars gave up seven runs. Italiano also didnt help his cause with three wild pitches in a row.

On the positive side Brad Davis and Joe Piekarz pitched great out of the bullpen in the late innings. Anthony Recker hit a three run homer, which was the first homer by a Cougar this year.

In the fourth inning with two outs. Wes Swackhammer singled to right. Randy Roth then doubled to left center to score Swackhammer. A.J. Van Slyke walked, which put runners on first and second with the two outs. Italiano then got Yarbrough to ground out to end the inning.

The fifth inning everything collapsed. Calvin Hayes led off with a single to right. A wil pitch sent him to second. Daniel Nelson then was hit by a pitch. Another wild pitch put runners on second and third. The very next pitch Italiano threw another one in the dirt that got away. Hayes and Nelson both scored. On the play the ball went over by the Swing dugout, and catcher Recker couldn't find it. Italiano did not yell where the ball was to help him as he was coming towards the plate to cover. As a result a second run would score. Colby Rasmus then walked. The Cougars then brought in Brad Kilby. Before he even threw one pitch, he got Rasmus picked off of first. Unfortunatly the throw from Kleen to Sellers was high and Rasmus was safe. Bryan Anderson then was caught looking. Adam Rodgers singled to left to score Rasmus. Swackhammer then singled to third. Roth singled to right. Van Slyke hit a grounder in the hole to the right side. Second baseman Wes Long should've had it but didnt get his glove down. That single allowed Rodgers and Swackhammer to score. One out later, Hayes singled to third to score Roth.

After the six runs in the top of the inning, the Cougars came back and scored three runs. Kleen started it with a single to right. Wes Long then singled to center. Anthony Recker then hit the first homer of the year for the Cougars. This went to left field.

Quad City came back with a run in the sixth. With two outs, Rodgers doubled to right center. Swackhammer then singled to center to score Rodgers. Just after the run scored Swackhammer was thrown out trying to make it a double.

Kane County added a run in the eighth inning to cut the lead in half. Justin Sellers started it off with a walk. Nick Blasi then hit one just past the third baseman for a single. Jeff Baisley who is still hitless on the year, he hit into a double play. Sellers made it to third. Jeff Bieker then reach on an error by the second baseman Hayes. Sellers would score.

Swing starter Adam Daniels pitched well, going six innings giving up five hits and three runs. He walked one and struck out five. His first four innings where great, then he gave up the three run homer.

Italiano struck out the first two hitters he faced in the game, then gave up a single. Craig then struck out Rodgers to get out of it. In the second inning, Swackhammer led off with a walk. He was then caught stealing. Roth and Van Slyke then were caught on strikes. One problem for Italiano besides the wild pitches and not calling out where the ball was. He also almost forgot to back up home plate in the fourth inning on the run scoring double by Roth.

If your wondering, yes on the stats ont he website I am behind already. Four games into the season and i've done one and a half games worth of stats. Yes I know what else is new im always behind on stats.

Notes-We heard Terry Baumann was complaining the ball was too small and hard to see. "Why can't they make it larger" he said, so Kathy sent him bowling.

In the first inning one of the auxilarly scoreboards on the third base side, was all messed up, it had the score the Cougars 03, and the Swing --. It also had the time, as counting back would like a clock in basketball with under a minute to go.

Thanks
