Despite a good pitching performance from Cougar starter John Herrera, the Cougars still lost this time 4-2. One of these days they will get their first win of the season, at least we hope.

Herrera threw five solid innings of two hit, shutout ball. He did walk three, which made it interesting, but still no runs. The bullpen on the other hand, didnt have a good day.

The fun began in the second for the Cougars as they would take the lead first again. Haas Pratt led it off by reaching on an error by the third baseman. Greg Dowling then walked. One out later, Matt Sulentic singled to left to score Pratt. Isaac Omura struck out. Mike Massaro then grounded out to end the inning.

Believe it or not that would be all the scoring till the sixth. Joe Benson led off the sixth with a single to right. Brian Dinkelman then doubled to left to get Benson to third. Mark Robinson grounded out to the pitcher, Benson would score, and Dinkelman got to third. Pat Currin then struck out both Chris Parmelee and Dan Valencia to get out of the inning.

Kane County came back in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own. With one out, Dowling singled to center. Jake Smith then singled to center. One out later, Omura singled to center to score Dowling.

Unfortunatly that would be the last of the Cougars offense. Currin would give up another run in the seventh inning. With one out, Garrett Olson was hit by a pitch. One out later, Dan Santiesteban doubled to center to score Olson.Currin then was able to get Benson to fly to left to get out of the inning.

More non relief in the eighth inning for the Cougars. Ron Madej came in and gave up two runs and got one out. Brian Dinkelman led off with a single to center. Robinson then singled to left. Madej then struck out Parmelee. Valencia would walk to load the bases. Cougar manager Aaron Nieckula then brought in Joe Newby. Dan Berg then pitch hit for Johnny Woodard. He would reach on an error by Isaac Omura, it was an attempted fielder's choice out at second. Dinkelman would score, and the bases remained loaded. Newby then walked Olson to allow Robinson to score to bring the game to a 4-2 score.

Despite the outcome, Herrera pitched well. In the first inning he allowed Benson to single to center. Dinkelman then reached on a fielder's choice, Benson was out at second. Robinson then grounded into the inning ending double play. In the fourth inning, Dinkelman led off with a walk. Robinson then singled to right. One out later, Valencia reached on a fielder's choice with Robinson out at second. First and third, two outs, Woodard then flew to left to end the inning.

The Cougar offense did have a chance to win the game in the end. In the third inning, Jermaine Mitchell led off by reaching on an error by the pitcher. Mike Affronti then singled to center, he would be doubled off of first on the play for the first out. He went to far. Christian Vitters then popped out to short. Pratt grounded out. In the fifth inning. Massaro led off with a walk. Mitchell would then reach on a fielder's choice, with Massaro out at second. Mitchell then stole second. The Snappers then made a pitching change. Affronti popped up foul to first. Vitters would then strike out.

In the seventh inning, Mitchell led off by reaching on an error by the shortstop. Affronti bunted him over to second. A ground out got him to third. Pratt would strike out to end the inning. In the ninth inning, Massaro led off by reaching on an error by the second baseman. Mitchell then singled to left. Affronti would reach on a fielder's choice, with Massaro out at third. First and second with one out. Vitters flies to left. Pratt then flew out to second to end the game. In the game the Cougars left 11 men on base, and 6 of them in scoring position.
