The Cougars scored four runs in the third inning, and two in the seventh to help them beat the Burlington Bees 8-6 for their fourth win of the season.

Frank Martinez paced the Cougars with a homer and a single. He drove in four runs and scored two more. Steve Kleen had two doubles.

Burlington scored two runs in the third to start off the scoring. Ethien Santana led things off with a single to short. Antonio Sabatini then singled to right, Santana moved into third. Josh Johnson then hit a sacrifice fly to left to allow Santana to score. Chris McConnell then singled to short. Mario Lisson singled to left to score Sabatini

Kane County came back in the bottom of the inning with four runs of their own. Wilber Perez led off with a single to second. Steve Kleen singled to right. Wes Long then singled to center to load the bases. Mike Massaro would then ground out to first, on the play Perez scored. One out later, Martinez singled to right to score both Kleen and Long. Keff Baisley then singled to right to score Martinez.

With one out in the fourth for the Bees. Jeff Howell then walked. Santana singled to second. Sabatini was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Johnson singled to left to score Howell. On the play Santana was cut down at third for the second out. McConnell popped out to short to end the inning.

With two outs in the fifth, Carlos Arroyo singled to left. J.P. Lowen hit a two run homer.

With one out in the fifth, Massaro blooped a double to center. Blasi grounded out to move Massaro to third. Martinez walked. A wild pitch would score Martinez.

Wes Long led off the seventh with a single to left. Two outs later, Martinez hit a homer to left. Jose Pineda led off the ninth with a walk, then stole second. Two outs later, Kleen doubled to center to score Pineda.

The Cougars could've scored more. In the second inning, Baisley led off with a walk. Pineda then hit into a double play. In the fourth, Padron singled to center to lead things off. A fly out and a double play later the inning was over.

The best chance for the Cougars was in the sixth inning. With one out, Padron walked. One out later, Kleen doubled to right. The right fielder Arroyo threw to the second baseman Johnson who threw home to get Padron at the play to end the inning. After that play Padron came out of the game and Recker caught the rest of the game.

Mike Mazzaro pitched ok, he made it through five innings, giving up seven hits and five runs. His first two innings where good. After that he got hit around in the third, and walked one and hit one in the fourth. The bullpen again did an awesome job. Ron Madej got his first professional win. He pitched two and one thirds innings, giving up an unearned run. John Herrera pitched an inning and two thirds to pick up his first professional save.
