Well there were a number of first that happend in the game tonight at Elfstrom Stadium against the Beloit Snappers. It was the first time in the Cougars history that they were swept at home in a three game series by Beloit. That is in 14 years and 218 games of play.

It is also the first time that the Cougars are below the break even mark record wise as a Athletics farm team, that is in 2 years, or 255 games.

The Cougars had their chances to score some runs but just cant get that one hit that they need. The defense didnt help much either.

The hitters going one for ten with runners in scoring position and leaving the bases loaded twice, the last time was in the tenth inning. They were also givin eight walks.

Jay Rainville started for the Snappers and pitched well. He didnt give up a hit untill two outs in the third. Granted he only went two outs later in the game before being taken out.

Kane County had its chances, in the first a two out walk, and a wild pitch. Myron Leslie then lined to center to finish it off. In the fifth inning a one out walk, and a balk to second for Wes Long. A ground out and a foul pop out and the inning was over.

They did score a run in the fourth, but not the way you would like to see a run scored but, im not really that picky as long as its a run. Kevin Melillo led off with a single to second. One out later, Leslie walked. The Snappers then took out Rainville and brought in John Williams. Raul Padron would strike out for the second out. Kory Wayment then hit one back off of the pitcher to load the bases. Chris Tritle walked on the 12th pitch of his atbat to bring in Melillo. Gregorio Petit then struck out to end the inning.

That would be all the scoring the Cougars would do untill the tenth inning. In the second inning the Snappers would bring one across the plate. Johnny Woodard led off with a walk. He was then pitch run for by Mark Zamojc. One out later, Jeremy Pickrel singled to center to put runners on the corners. Terence Patterson would ground out to third for the second out, but Zamojc would score a run. Kory Feiner struck out looking to end the inning.

Derek Tharpe started for the Cougars, he pitched very well. Derek went six innings giving up just the one hit and the one run. He walked two and struck out five. Tharpe retired the final seven he faced and 12 of the last 13. Seven of his out were grounders.

The Snappers had a chance in the eighth to score a run. Paul Rutgers led off with a single to left, then moved up to second on a wild pitch. One out later, and the Cougars would take out pither Keith Perez and bring in Connor Robertson. Deacon Burns lined out to center for the second out. Trevor Plouffe walked, to put runners on first and second with two outs. Zamojc singled to left, Nicholas Blasi got the ball and threw home. Padron got him with the tag according to the ump to end the inning. I dont think he taged him, but oh well.

Again in the ninth the Snappers could've won the game. With one out Pickrel singled to center. Patterson then singled to second. Both runners took off and stole third and second respectfully. Feiner walked, which loaded the bases with one out. Connor Robertson then struck out Paul Rutgers and Luke Hughes to end the inning.

With one out in the seventh the Cougars got a single from Petit to right. Blasi followed with a single to short. Runners on first and second with one out and a tie game. Long would pop out to second for the second out. Melillo then popped out to short to finish off the inning. In the eighth, Tommy Everidge led off with a single to right. Leslie walked. First and second no outs. Padron lined out to right, Everidge would tag up and get to third with only one out. Kory Wayment and Chris Tritle both struck out, which ended the inning.

In the ninth with two outs, Long grounded one to short and beat the throw for an infield single. Melillo followed with a single to right. Everidge then lined out to right to end the inning.

Deacon Burns led off the tenth with a single to center. Plouffe then put down a bunt, for some reason Padron fielded the ball and threw a little bit high to first. Melillo was covering first and the ball hit his mit and kept going. Burns would score and Plouffe ended up at third. Why didnt, the pitcher field the ball? Woodard then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Plouffe. One out later, Pickrel walked. Patterson then singled to short, the throw to first from Petit was low. The Cougars then made a pitching change to bring in Tomas Cabaniel to replace Scott Drucker. Cabaniel got Feiner to ground into a fielder's choice, with Patterson being out at second to end the inning.

Give the Cougars credit they almost pulled off the impossible in the bottom of the tenth, but could only muster up one run. With one out, Padron walked, Ryan Ruiz came in to pitch run for him. Wayment then singled to left. Chalon Tietje then pitch hit for Chris Tritle, and would walk to load the bases. Gregorio Petit then nubbed the ball in front of the plate. Catcher Feiner got the ball and steped on home for the force out of Ruiz for the second out. Still with the bases loaded, Blasi would walk, which would bring home Wayment. Long grounded out to second to end the game.
