Walks and fielding mistakes really helped cost the Cougars in their game against the Swing of the Quad Cities. The Swing would win 5-3, making the Cougars 1-5 on the year.

The offense had 13 hits, but they just cant get that one hit that they really need. The Cougars left 11 runners on base, six of those in scoring position.

Kane County did score first, In the first inning with two outs, Greg Dowling walked. Jake Smith then singled to left. Christian Vitters would single up the middle to score Dowling.

Quad City would score twice in the third inning off of Inoel Deaza. With one out Daryl Jones walked. Christian Lopez then singled to right center. Jim Rapaport singled to short, Jones would score. Isa Garcia then doubled down the right field line to score Lopez. With runners on second and third and one out, Brandon Buckman lined to second. Isaac Omura caught the ball and threw to Mike Affronti to turn a double play.

The Swing added another run in the fourth inning, with one out, Mark Shorey grounded one to first. Greg Dowling got the ball, and should've taken it to first himself, but he tried to wait for the pitcher to cover, and he was late, which ment that Shorey was safe. Jared Schweitzer then was hit by a pitch. Donvoan Solano singled to left to score Shorey.

Kane County added a run in the sixth inning. Christian Vitters led things off with a double down the right field line. Two outs later, Gustavo Rosendo hit a liner off the third baseman's glove and into left field for a double, Vitters would score. Mike Massaro then followed with a single to first. Jermaine Mitchell struck out to end the inning.

Daryl Jones and Christian Lopez led off the seventh inning for the Swing with walks. Jones would be picked off. The Cougars then brought in Pat Currin to pitch. One out later Isa Garcia singled to first. A wild pitch would move the two runners into scoring position. Brandon Buckman then doubled down the right field line to score both Lopez and Garcia.

In the eighth inning the Cougars would score one more run. Vitters led off by reaching on an error by the second baseman. Two outs later, Rosendo doubled down the right field line to score Vitters.

The Cougars just couldn't get the one big hit when they needed to. In the second inning with one out, Rosendo singled to right. Massaro then singled to center. Mitchell would reach on a fielder's choice with Massaro being out at second. In the fourth a double play ended an inning. In the ninth Mitchell led off with a walk. Affronti then reached on a fielder's choice. Dowling singled to left. Smith popped out and Vitters then grounded back to the pitcher to end the game.

In the bottom of the eighth the Swing could've added a few more runs. Shory led off with a single to right. Schweitzer then was hit by a pitch. Solano then bunted the runners over. the Swing then put on a sweeze play, Jones would miss the bunt and Shorey would be toast coming home.
