In game one of the doubleheader against the Burlington Bees it was a great pitchers duel. There was no score through eight and a half innings of play. Burlington would then had Brady Everett led off the ninth with a double to the wall in right. Scott Lucas bunted him over to third. O.D. Gonzalez then singled to center to win the game for the Bees.

James Heuser pitched very well for the Cougars. He went four innings, giving up a hit and two walks. In the second inning Marc Maddox led off with a walk. One out later, Joe Dickerson walked. Heuser would then get Everett to line to second, and Lucas looking to end the inning.

Burlington also had a threat going in the sixth inning, Chris McConnell led off with a single up the middle. Kurt Mertins then tried to bunt him over, but would end up reaching on a fielder's choice, with McConnell out at second, and Mertins beating the throw. Maddox then reached on another fielder's choice, It would've been a double play, but second baseman Alex Valdez lost the ball on the transfer. Michael Thompson would then line to left to end the inning.

The seventh and eighth were kinda rough for the Cougars. Joe Dickerson led off the seventh with a single up the middle. Everett would then hit into a double play. Lucas singled to center, but Gonzalez would be caught looking. In the eighth, Alvi Morel led off with a single to left. McConnell would bunt him over to second, but the pitcher couldn't grab the ball so everyone would be safe. Mertins bunted the runners over into scoring position. Maddox then was intentionally walked to load the bases with no outs. Scott Moore then got Thompson to pop out to second, and Dickerson to strike out to get out of the inning.

The Cougars offense didnt make the trip to Burlington from Davenport. They had two hits, and four base runners in the game. The third inning is the only time they had more than one runner on. Valdez led it off with a single to left. One out later, Mike Massaro singled up the middle. Mike Affronti would then hit into a double play.

Mario Santiago pitched really well for the Bees, he went six innings. Santiago retired the last 10 batters he faced, and the only two hits he gave up were in the third inning. After him Tyler Chambliss shut out the Cougars. He gave up a walk to Valdez in the eighth.
