The train just kept on rolling today, as the Cougars would win again, for the second time against the Silverhawks. This time 8-5 for thier 12th win of the season.

Corey Brown had two homers and three hits all together. Greg Dowling had three hits, Todd Johnson chipped in two. The Cougars had three sacrifice flies in the game.

The bullpen was good, Nick Walters, Leonardo Espinal and Scott Moore combined for five innings, giving up four hits and one walk. They also had six strike outs, one double play, and one pick off.

Kane County got on the board first in the first inning with three runs. Corey Brown led it off with by striking out, but on the play the catcher had the ball get away from him, so Brown got to first on the passed ball. Matt Ray was then hit by a pitch. Todd Johnson singled to left to score Brown. Greg Dowling would reach on an error by the first baseman to load the bases. Jake Smith would hit a sacrifce fly to center to allow Ray to tag up and score, also Johnson went to third. Christian Vitters then hit another sacrifice fly to center this time Johnson tagged up and scored. Shane Keough would walk. Runners on first and second with two outs. Jonathan Johnston grounded out to end the inning.

In the second inning Brown would hit a one out homer. South Bend scored twice in the second. Clayton Conner led off by being hit by a pitch. One out later, Anthony Smith singled to right. One out later, Elijah Rumler walked to load the bases. Matt Oxendine then singled to left to score both Conner and Smith.

Three more runs for South Bend in the fourth inning. With two outs, Oxendine singled to left. Evan Frey followed with a single to right. Taylor Harbin then doubled to left to bring home both Oxendine and Frey. Michael Mee singled to center to score Harbin.

Kane County took the lead for good in the bottom of the bottom of the inning. With one out, Walter Correa single to center. Brown then singled to right to get Correa to third. Brown then stole second. Ray would hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Correa, and let Brown tag up to get to third. Johnson doubled to right to score Brown. Greg Dowling singled to right, Johnson tried to score and would be cut down at home to end the inning.

Another run for the Cougars in the fifth inning, with one out. Vitters walked, Keough then doubled to left. Johnston would single to first to score Vitters. Keough tried to steal home and would be caught. Correa walked. Brown would strike out to end the inning.

The last run for the Cougars came on a one out solo homer by Brown in the eighth inning.
