Hey the Cougars got a split in the series against the Burlington Bees with a 2-1 win.
Ryan Ford pitched a good game, he went the first six innings, giving up three hits and one run. Ryan struck out seven, he got the side twice.
Connor Robertson pitched very well out of the bullpen for the Cougars. He went two innings of perfect ball. Chalon Tietje had two doubles, one run scored and another one drivin in.
The Cougars would strike first, with one out in the second inning Tietje doubled down the line to left. Travis Chapman grounded out to allow Tietje to get to third. A wild pitch would let Tietje score.
The other run the Cougars would score came in the fourth inning. With two outs, Wes long bounced one off of the lip of the infield and for a hit to third. An errant pickoff throw got him to second. Tietje then doubled to right to score Long.
Burlington would score in the fourth inning. Irving Falu singled to second, then stole second. Ed Lucas doubled to right to score Falu.
Ford did a nice job in the sixth inning. Kenard Springer led off with a single to center, He then stole second and would get to third on a wild pitch. Ford then struck out the side to strand Springer at third.
Scott Drucker came in for the save in the ninth. Falu led off the inning with a single to left. Ed Lucas then grounded out to Drucker on a bad bunt. Mario Lisson would reach on a fielder's choice. The ball was hit back to Drucker, and they were able to get Falu in a rundown and tag him out at the plate for the second out. Rusty Brown the struck out to end the game.
