The Cougars lost for the first time on the road this year. Today they lost to Lansing 10-4.
Lansing would score seven runs on eleven hits against Cougar starter Scott Hodsdon. Four of those runs would be earned. The offense got seven hits and four runs.
Lansing started off the scoring in the first inning with two runs. With one out, Raul Barron singled to right. Kevin Ahrens then singled to left. Manuel Rodriguez would single to center to score Barron. Johermyn Chavez then singled to left to score Ahrens. Another run for Lansing in the second inning when Joel Collins led off the second with a homer.
The first run for the Cougars came in the fourth with one out. Corey Brown doubled to right. Greg Dowling flew out to center, Brown would tag up and go to third. Todd JOhnson singled to right to score Brown. Matt Smith doubled to center to get Johnson to third. Christian Vitters then walked to load the bases. Shane Keough would hit into a force out to end the inning.
Two more runs for the Cougars in the fifth inning. With one out, Michael Lissman and Matt Ray both walked. Brown would single to first. An error by the first baseman on the play would allow Lissman to score and the others to move up a base. Dowling grounded out to second, on the play, Ray would score.
Unfortunatly the Lugnuts would score six runs in the fourth inning, all of which with two outs. Justin Jackson homered. Barron doubled to right. Ahrens would reach on an error by Walter Correa. Manuel Rodriguez doubled to left to score both Barron and Ahrens. The Cougars then brought in Scott Deal to replace Scott Hodsdon. Deal walked Johermyn Chavez. Adam Calderone singled to right to score Rodriguez. Moises Sierra singled to center to score Chavez. Collins then would reach on an error by Dowling. On the play Calderone would score.
Manuel Rodriguez led off the sixth with a single to right. Two outs later, Sierra doubled to left to score Rodriguez. The Cougars would score one more run. This one in the ninth inning. With two outs, Ray singled to center. Brown then tripled to right to score Ray.
