Why do they do this to us fans every single game it seems. They loose the lead in the middle innings, then come within a run of tying the game in the ninth with runners on base.

Well it happend again, and yes folks we are still win less at home this year in now eight games. And yes that is still a record for the begining of a season.

Errors really cost the Cougars today as they had three of them. Two of the errors were by shortstop Gregorio Petit. The other error was an errant pickoff attempt by James Heuser.

The big inning for the South Bend Silver Hawks was the eighth inning which was mainly against Heuser. With one out, Emilo Bonifacio singled through the middle. The bad pickoff throw got him to second. Wilkin Castillo was then hit by a pitch. After that a wild pitch brought the runners a base closer to scoring. With one out and the infield in, Carlos Gonzales hit one up the middle, if the infield wasnt in it could've been an inning ending double play. Unfortunatly it was a two run scoring single. The Cougars then brought in Scott Drucker. Augie Murillo greeted him with a double to right. Allen Mottram was intentionally walked which guess what, loaded the bases, sound like a rerun of the past week yet? Orlando Mercado then grounded one to third. Myron Leslie might've had a play at the plate on Gonzales but he bobbled it and had to throw to first.

The Cougars would show some guts and the Hawks would show some wildness in the ninth. Leslie led off with a double down the right field line. Chris Tritle then walked, a wild pitch moved the runners along. One out later, Gregorio Petit singled to center to score Leslie, another wild pitch would score Tritle. The tying run on second with one out in the bottom of the ninth, sound familar? Nick Blasi flew out to right.Kevin Melillo then walked. Javier Herrera would reach out for a pitch that might've been a ball, with a two strikes on him and ground into a force play to end the game.

Kane County would have other chanced to score some runs. In the second inning Raul Padron led off with a double to right. One out later, Leslie lined one to the first baseman, who made a nice diving catch. Chris Tritle then struck out to end the inning.

The third inning we left two runners on. Blasi led off with a double down the left field line. One out later, Herrera would reach on an error by their shortstop, Blasi went to third. Runners on first and third two outs, Padron lines out to center on the first pitch he sees to end the inning.

A double play would erase a one out walk in the fourth inning. In the seventh inning with one out, Leslie singled to center. Tritle followed with a single to center. Travis Chapman then grounded one weekly back to the mound. Petit would pop out to short to end the inning.

The eighth inning the Cougars would strand two more runners. With one out, Melillo walked. Herrera singled to left. The Hawks then made a pitchig change. Padron would pop out to left, and Tommy Everidge would strike out to end the threat.

South Bend scored their other run in the fourth inning. Castillo led off with a walk. One out later, Murillo would reach on an error by their shortstop. Mottram then singled to left to score Castillo.

The Cougars made a roster move today as Javier Herrera was taken off the suspended list, and Wes Long went on the disabled list with a strained left ankle.
