Quad City River Bandits at Kane County Cougars

COUGARS GET SHUT OUT-1ST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
The Cougars got shut down offensivley with only five hits, in a pitchers duel
at the Elf. 5 pitchers combined for the shut out for the River Bandits
they were starter Jon Pridie who went the first 5 innings giving up three hits
while walking three and striking out three. Kevin Frederick, Tony Cento
and Juan Padilla went the next four innings of shut out baseball giving up only two
hits, one walk, and striking out two, combined.
The Cougars were not without their chances throughout the game as they had at
least one runner on base in every inning except the 6th.
For the Cougars Jorge Cordova started the game and lasted into the 4th inning, giving up six
hits, 1 run, 1 walk and striking out 4. Hector Henriquez then went the next 3.2 innings giving
up 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and striking out 2. Brandon Bowe went the final two innings, pitching a
shut out in those innings.
Offensivley for the Cougars there was no real stand out perormance but, The couple of good things were
Matt Padgett exstended his hitting streak to 12 games. Kevin Hooper also walked a couple of more times, while
batting leadoff for the first time this year. More on that later.
For the River Bandits offensivley Matt Scanlan, Eric Sandberg and B.J. Garbe all had two hits apiece.
The scoring started in the 3rd for the Bandits when Luis Rodgriguez lead off the inning with an infield single
to second. Two outs later Matt Scanlan singled to left to score Rodriguez.
The other run for the Bandits came in the 5th when Tony Stevens lead off the inning with a walk. One out
later Matt Scanlan hit a triple to right to score Stevens.

Notes-Chip Ambres was out of the lineup because of the stomach flu
Scott Goodman went 0-4 but he hit four rocketts that just so happend to be caught.
Complaints-In the 9th inning the umpires were probly in a hurry to get home so they
pulled one of the phantom tags of second base on a fielder's choice which with two outs
and Goodman up, a chance to tie the game.
