Kane County at Cedar Rapids

April 25th, 2004

The Cougars started off the scoring with four runs in the second inning. Brian Snyder lead off with a walk. Kory Wayment then singled to center. Trevor Brown then walked which would load the bases. Chris Tritle would strike out for the first out. Luis Perez then hit a grand slam to right center field for his second homer of the year.

Adding four more runs in the fifth. With one out Snyder singled to center, he would get to second on a wild pitch. Wayment then singled to right to get him over to third. Brown singled to left to score Snyder. Tritle singled to right to score Wayment. Perez then singled to center to score Brown. A ground out to first by Ingram would move the runners along a base. A passed ball scored Tritle for the fourth run of the inning.

Two more runs for the Cougars in the sixth, David Castillo led off with a double to left. David Harriman then doubled to left to score Castillo. Snyder and Wayment would both walk, which would load the bases. Brown singled to left to score Harriman.

Cedar Rapids would cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning. With one out Quan Cosby singled to center. Brandon Wood would reach on a fielder's choice, on the play Cosby would be out at second. Blake Balkcom then hit a homer to left field.

Single runs in the eighth and the ninth would lead to the Cougars getting twelve runs. In the eighth, Snyder singled to center. Wayment would then double to left to get Snyder to third. Brown grounded out to second, on the play Snyder would score the eleventh run. In the ninth, Ingram led things off with a walk. Luke Appert lined out to second. Castillo then singled to left. Harriman would double to right to score Ingram for the final run.

This Day In Cougars History (April 25)

1992, In a real pitchers duel, the Madison Muskies make an early run stand up, beating the Cougars 1-0. The Cougars managed just four hits off Tony Scharff. Rick Fourney went all the way for the Kane County, allowing just two hits. Kane County struck out 11 times and left seven runners on base.

1993, Tony Sylvestri and Chris Sheff each collect three hits, in the Cougars 12-2 win over the Waterloo Diamonds. Rey Mendoza starts the game for the Cougars and gets the win.

1995, Pitcher Mike Parisi carriers a no-hitter into the fifth inning and the Cougars eventually hang on for a 4-3 win over the Burlington Bees.
