The South Bend Silver Hawks scored nine runs in the fift inning to cruise to a 11-5 victory over the Kane County Cougars in the final game of thier series. Cougar starter Derek Tharpe had a no hitter going untill the first batter of the fifth inning when the whole roof collapsed on the Cougars.

The Cougars would actually score first, with four runs in the fourth inning. The Cougars got their first hit in the game when Nick Blasi led off the inning with a single to left. Kevin Melillo then executed a hit and run, with a single through the whole at second. Javier Herrera would reach on a fielder's choice, on the play melillo would be out at second. Raul Padron followed with a sacrifce fly to center to score Blasi. Tommy Everidge then walked. Myron leslie beat out a grounder in the short stops hole to score Herrera. Chris Tritle then walked o load the bases. Kory Wayment would hit a single to left to score both Everidge and Leslie. The inning would end when Tritle was caught trying to steal third.

South Bend then scored nine runs the very next half inning. Allen Mottram led off with a single to third. Orlando Mercado then singled to left. Mark Reynolds hit a three run liner onto the left field deck. Travis Gulick singled to short. One out later, Emilio Bonafacio doubled to left to score Gulick. Jereme Milons singled to short. Augie Murillo then singled to center to score Bonafacio. One out later, Mottram singled to left to score Milons. The Cougars then took of Tharpe and brought in Jared Trout. Trout walked Mercado to load the bases. Reynolds then doubled to left to score all three runs. Finally Trout got Gulick to ground one back to him to end the inning.

Leslie led off the seventh with a single, then went to second on a wild pitch. Tritle singled to right. The Hawks then made a pitching change. Wayment would hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Leslie. Again, the Hawks would score the next half inning after the Cougars. This time in the eighth inning, they would score twice. With two outs, Bonafacio singled to center, he would steal second, and get to third on a bad throw to second. Milons then walked. Murillo singled to short, on the play Bonafacio scored. Brito then singled to center to score Milons.
