For the first time this year the Cougars did not sweep a double header. Today they would lose game two, 7-5 to the Dayton Dragons.

The Dragons would get on Cougar starter Scott Hodsdon right away. He would give up seven runs, five earned in one and two thirds innings pitched.

Angel Cabrera led off the game with a walk. Zack Cozart then singled to right. Todd Frazier would double to left to bring home Cabrera. Denis Phipps grounded out to short, on the play Cozart scored. Michael McKennon then hit a sacrifice fly to right to get Frazier home.

The second inning was even worse as Dayton would score four times. Jake Long doubled to center to lead off the inning. One out later Justin Reed singled to center to bring home Long. Reed would steal both second and third base. Cabrera walked. Cozart then grounded out to second, on the play Reed would score. Frazier reached on an error by short stop Walter Correa. Phipps singled to right to bring home both Cabrera and Frazier.

Kane County did score five runs in the game, all of them in the fourth inning. With one out, Michael Lissman singled to left. The Dragons then brought in Jeremy Horst to replace starter Enerio Del Rosario. Todd Johnson greated Rosario with a double to right. Gustavo Rosendo singled to center to score Lissman. Christian Vitters singled to right to score Johnson. Walter Correa then walked to load the bases. Matt Ray grounded out to first, on the play Rosendo scored. Shane Keough then walked to reload the bases. Greg Dowling would single to right to score both Vitters and Correa. The inning would end with Corey Brown lining out to first.

The Cougars did have their chances in the game to score some more runs. In the first inning, Matt Ray would lead it off with a double to left. One out later, Greg Dowling walked. Corey Brown then flew to center, Ray would tag up and get to third on the play. Michael Lissman grounded out to end the inning. Sixth inning the Cougars would strand the bases loaded. With two outs, Ray doubled to right. Keough singled to right. The Dragons then made a pitching change. Dowling would walk to load the bases with two outs. Brown struck out.
