What a great pitching duel for the first seven innings between Scott Mitchinson and Neftali Feliz. The game would be 2-1 when they left. Eventually the Cougars would lose their eighth out of the last eleven, 6-2 in ten innings.

Mitchinson pitched into the eighth inning. He gave up five hits and two runs. One walk and Scott struck out six. The first run he would give up would be in the third inning, Jose Felix led off with a single to center. One out later Engel Beltre singled to center to get Felix to third. Renny Osuna then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Felix.

Mitchinson pitched very well, getting out of some trouble. In the second inning, Mitch Moreland hit a one out double to left center. Scott then got a strike out and a ground out back to him to end the inning. In the sixth inning, Ozuna led off with a walk. One out later, Mitchinson would get the inning ending double play.

Feliz pitched great also, he went five innings, giving up six hits and one unearned run. He would walk one and strike out eight Cougars. The lone run the Cougars got off of him came in the third inning. Gustavo Rosendo led off with a single to center. A passed ball moved him to second. Larry Cobb then singled to left to get Rosendo to third. One out later, Shane Keough singled to left to score Rosendo.

Mental mistakes would hurt the Cougars all night. In the third inning Keough would be picked off of first after driving home Rosendo. They really hurt in the field as an error would give the Lumberkings another run. In the eigth inning with one out, Beltre tripled to right center. Ozuna then hit a ball to center, Keough had the ball but then dropped it. Beltre would score and Osuna made second on the error. That would be the end of the day for Mitchinson. Justin Friend then came in and struck out Ian Gac and Tim Smith to end the inning.

The Cougars last run came in the seventh inning. Todd Johnson led off with a double to left. Rosendo then flew to right and Johnson tagged up and went to third. A balk on Kings reliever Julio Santana allowed Johnson to score.

Kane County did have some more chances in the game. In the first inning, Keough led off with a single to left, Christian Vitters then hit into a double play. Fifth inning, Johnson led off with a single to right. He then would be caught trying to steal second. One out later Cobb doubled to left center. Walter Correa then walked. Keough struck out to end the inning. Their best chance to score came in the eighth. With two outs, Greg Dowling hit a bloop double down the left field line. Michael Lissman then singled to right. Dowling, with all his speed?, came home to try to score, and would be out to end the inning.

Justin Friend pitched ok for the Cougars. In the ninth inning with two outs he gave up a bloop double to Jonathan Greene. On the play Keough dove fo the ball in center and it got past him. Friend would then get Jose Felix on strikes to end the inning.

The tenth inning was a disaster the Cougars would give up four runs. With one out, Beltre singled to right. Osuna then singled to center. One out later, Beltre would score on a wild pitch. Tim Smith then hit a two run homer. Mitch Moreland hit a solo homer.

Corey Brown came out of the game in the fifth inning, He foulded a ball off his knee and was on the ground for awhile. The Cougars made a couple of roster moves today. Earl Oakes was released after making two appearences for the Cougars. Branden Dewing finally got promoted to Stockton. We have two new pitchers, Chad Kerfoot and Lance Sewell.
