The Cougars scored early and had to hold on in the late innings for another win. This unfortunatly sounds familar to Cougar fans, since this is what we've done a few times this year. Chris Dunwell pitched very well in getting his fifth win of the season.

The Cougars had a scoring opportunity in all but the final two innings of the game as the Dragons just couldn't stop them, considering that they walked the Cougars seven times. Dragon pitchers also hit the Cougars four times. Of those eleven free passes, three would come around to score. That's half of the runs the Cougars scored.

In the first inning Nick Rogers lead off with a single to right. Luke Appert then was hit by a pitch. David Castillo would pop up foul to second. David Harriman lined to deep right for the second out, on the play Rogers would tag up and go to third. Brian Snyder then took a walk, to load the bases. Trevor Brown was it on the leg by a pitch, which forced in Rogers for the first run. Kory Waymet walked on a full count, to force in Appert. Chris Tritle then fouled out to first to end the inning.

Things would get better for the Cougars as they just kept on scoring a run an inning. In the second Luis Perez started things off with a single to left. Rogers moved him to second with a ground out to short. Appert would move him to third with a grounder to first. Castillo lined one to third, the third baseman knocked the ball down to keep it on the infield. The single would drive home Perez with the third run. Harriman grounded to third to end the inning.

This time we would ge thte ball out of the infield to drive in the run. In the third inning, Snyder lead it off with a double to right. Trevor Brown singled to left, on the play Snyder went to third. Kory Wayment then singeld one to left to allow Snyder to bring homer the fourth run. Tritle grounded out, Perez struck out, and Rogers would ground out to end the inning.

The Cougars almost scored in the fourth inning. Appert lead off with a walk. Castillo lined out ot left. Harriman would walk, to put runners on first and second with only one out. Snyder grounded one to third, the third baseman Walter Olmstead stepped on third and threw to first for the inning ending double play.

Coming back in the fifth to put up another run wiht one out. Wayment would walk, he then stole both second and third. Tritle grounded one to short, on the play Wayment scored. The final run for the Cougars came in the sixth. Rogers lead off by being hit by a pitch. Appert walked. Castillo then flied to left. Harriman would single to left to score Rogers.

The Dragons had some offense too in this game but not much untill late in the game. Dunwell was rolling untill the fifth inning. With two outs Kyle Smith doubled to right, a wild pitch would get him to third. Another wild pitch this time over everyone sent Smith home with the first Dragon run.

The seventh inning wasnt fun for Cougar fans as the Dragons would score twice more. Jarrod Schmidt hit a homer to left. Olmstead then singled to center. That would be all for Dunwell. Brigmer Leon would come on and struggle. Smith singled to third. Elvin Beltre then reached on a fielder's choice with Smith being out at second. A wild pitch sent Olmstead home and Beltre to second. Jeff Urgelles then was called out on strikes and Will Hudson was struck out to end the inning.

The eighth inning was just another one of those innings that you hate to see. Daniel Fyvie had just come on to pitch to start the inning. Luis Bolivar lined to left. Habelito Hernandez then doubled to center. Joey Votto walked. That would be the end of the day for Fyvie as the Cougars brought in Jairo Garica. Schmidt hit the first pitch from Garcia into center to score Hernandez. Olmstead would strike out and Smith would ground out for no more damage.

Kane County could've added another run in the seventh inning. Wayment had lead off with a single to left, he was then caught trying to steal second. Tritle struck out. Perez would take one deep to left, but foul. The next pitch hit him. Perez then stole second base. Rogers walked. With runners on first and second and two outs, Luke Appert then lined one to left, it would be caught to end the inning.

I think somewhere on the ride over to Dayton from Kane County Jairo Garcia caught the Almonte Syndrom as he would make things rather interesting in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Will Hudson singled to right. Bolivar would double to center to get Hudson to third. Garcia then uncorked a wild pitch to allow Hudson to score, and Bolivar to get to third with the tying run. Hernandez then grounded one to third to end the game.

Well I hope to see some of you all up in Beloit over the next four days as I will be up there for all four of the games, routing on the Cougars and causing trouble, not in that order. Lets have some Turtle Soup this weekend
