The Cougars found thier offense, at least for one night in Grand Rapids. They would get ten runs and eleven hits, in beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 10-3.

Larry Cobb and Matt Smith hit homers, Christian Vitters had three hits and drove in two runs. Shane Keough, Corey Brown and Greg Dowling all had two hits.

Scott Hodsdon found the plate and was able to get through six innings for the first time this year. He went six, giving up eight hits and three runs.

The offense started in the second inning with a run. With one out, Christian Vitters singled to right. One out later, Matt Smith walked. Matt Ray then singled to right to score Vitters. In the bottom of the inning the Caps would score a run of their own. Cory Middleton led off with a double off the left field wall. Kody Kaiser then singeld to left to get Middleton to third. One out later, Adrian Cassanova hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Middleton.

Two more runs for the Cougars in the third inning. Shane Keough led it off with a single to short. Two outs later, Larry Cobb hit a homer to score Keough. Hodsdon gave up a run in the bottom of the inning when, with one out, Roger Tomas tripled to left center. Justin Henry then grounded to second to allow Tomas to score.

With one out, Matt Ray walked, then stole second. One out later, Keough tripled to right center to score Ray. Dowling followed with a single to right to score Keough. In the bottom of the inning with one out, Kaiser singled to short. One out later, Cassanova singled up the middle to drive home Kaiser.

Matt Smith would hit a two out solo homer in the fifth inning to get the Cougars up by three.

The eighth inning would see the Cougars score four times. With one out, Adam Klein and Shane Keough walked. Dowling then doubled to right to score both of them. Corey Brown walked. That would lead the Caps to bring in a new pitcher. One out later, Vitters doubled down the right field line to score both Dowling and Brown.

Lance Sewell did a nice job in three innings of work. He would give up one hit, yes he would walk three. In his first inning of work, Lance would walk Mark McBratney and Kyle Peter to lead things off. Roger Tomas then put down a bunt to move the runners over. Sewell then walked Justin Henry to load the bases with one out. Joe Tucker lined one to Vitters at short and from the ground he got the ball to Ray to double off Peter to get out of the inning.
