COUGARS BULLPEN LETS ONE GET AWAY
The Cougars did not have a good night on the mound, the fact that
they were still in the game was due to the clutch hitting, that was
just not enough in the end. The Cougars did not get a 1-2-3 inning untill the
ninth inning and that was by Brandon Bowe.
The Cougars who just keep on trading wins and loses recently lost another close
game and are still only a half game behind the Snappers for first place
because of the fact that the Snapper were pounded today. THe problem is
that after tomorrow we face the Snappers in Beloit for four games.
Todd Moser started for the Cougars and went into the sixth inning,giving
up four hits and one unearned run. He was wild though with four walks but had five
strikeout. Gustavo Lopez came in with two runners in scoring postion and one out.
and after giving up a single got the next two Wizards out to get out of the inning.
The problem for Lopez was the next inning after striking out the first hitter he gave
up three hits, one scored when he was still in the game. After a strikeout he was lifted
for Joe Sergent. Sergent then gave up three hits in a row, scoring four runs.
Offensivley the Cougars were cooking up spells on the Wizards pitching getting 12 hits.
Matt Padgett and Matt Frick both homerd. Kevin Hooper, Matt Frick, Matt Padgett and
Stephen Morales all had two hits.
The Wizards had Eric Cyr start for them, Cyr had a ERA below one before the start.
Cyr went three innings, giving up six hits, four runs, two walks, and getting two strikeouts.
After him was Travis Jones who went a two scoreless innings. Brian Jolliffe who picked up the win, went one
perfect inning. Brian Dehart then went just over an inning giving up three runs. J.J Trujillo, their closer came in
the eighth and shut us down with his sidwinding motion.
The scoring started in the first when the Cougars with one out had Kevin Hooper ground to the pitcher Cyr,
Hooper would've beatin out the throw but Cyr threw the ball away and Hooper went to second.
One out later Matt Frick singled to left to score Hooper. Matt Padgett then doubled to left to score Frick.
The Wizards would answer right back in the second when John Scheschuck walked. One out later Tony Cosentino singled to left.
After a strikeout Mike Wagner would hit a ball at Luis Ugueto at short and he would boot the ball, allowing Scheschuck to score.
The Cougars added a couple more in the third when Scott Goodman lead it off with a walk. One out later Matt Padgett hit a two runs home run onto
the deck in right.
Then in the 7th for the Wizards the ugly part of the game came for the Cougars when with one out Bryan Ward singled to left. John Schesuck also singled to left.
Troy Schrader then singled past Kevin Perkins at third to allow Ward to score. After a strikeout and a pitching change by the Cougars Jesse Curry came up and doubled to center
to score Scheschuck and Schrader. Ben Risinger then singled to right to score Wagner.
In the bottom of the inning Matt Frick would hit a long bomb onto the deck in left field.
