The Cougars snapped their four game wininng streak with their loss to the Quad City River Bandits tonight 4-1. They had chances but just couldn't get the hit when needed, plus two errors really hurt.

Travis Banwart started and pitched well, his one bad inning was the first inning when he gave up two runs in the first inning. After that he pitched very well.

In the first inning, Jose Garcia led off with a single to right. Pete Kozma then singled to center. Charlie Kingrey then doubled to right center to score both Garcia and Kozma. Banwart then got the next three hitters on ground outs.

The Cougars had runners on base most of the game. In the first inning, Adam Klein led off the game with a walk, then went to second on a passed ball. One out later, Corey Brown reached on a fielder's choice, Klein would be out in a rundown between home and third. In the second inning, Christian Vitters lined one down the line to right for a double. Larry Cobb then reached on an error by the shortstop. Todd Johnson then grounded into a double play, and Gustavo Rosendo struck out to strand Vitters and third.

In the third inning with two out, Matt Ray singled to second. Corey Brown then singled to right. Jake Smith would hit into a force out to end the inning. The fourth inning with one out saw Cobb single to second. Johnson and Rosendo would hit into force out to end the inning.

The Cougars did score a run in the eighth. Klein led it off with a single to second. Matt Ray then reached on a fielder's choice with Klein being out at second. Corey Brown then tripled down the right field line to score Ray. Jake Smith walked. Shane Keough came in to run for Smith. Vitters popped out to short and Cobb flew to right to end the inning. In the ninth inning, Johnson led off with a walk. One out later with two balls on Walter Correa, the Bandits made a pitching change. Pete Parise came in and finished the walk of Correa. Klein then hit into a game ending double play.

The other two runs the Bandits scored came in the eighth inning. With one out, Kingrey reached on an error by third baseman Larry Cobb. Andrew Brown then doubled to right. Paul Vasquez singled to right to score Kingrey. Osvaldo Morales would hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Brown. Matt Arburr then reached on another error by Cobb. Chad Kerfoot would strike out Domnit Bolivar to end the inning.

In the seventh inning with two outs, Bolivar doubled to right center. THe Cougars then took out Banwart to bring in Kerfoot. Chad walked D'Marcus Ingram. Garcia then hit into a force at second to end the inning. It was a good diving play by Cobb at third.
