The Cougars came back from their power outage yesterday to take game two of the series from the West Michigan Whitecaps. Kane County scored all of thier runs in the fifth and sixth innings after the Caps pitcher got knocked out of the game.

Shane Komine pitched a complete game three hit shutout for his sixth win of the year to lead the Cougars. He walked one and struck out seven. The Caps only got runner to second once. That was in the second inning after Mike Rabelo leadoff with a single to center than stole second base. Jason Knoedler popped up to first for the first out. Demtrius Heath then grounded out to short to move Rabelo to third. Juan Francia struck out to end the only serious threat against Komine.

Unfortunatly the thing that ignited the Cougars offense was scary. The offense was dormant untill the fifth. Nelson Cruz lead it off with a double to left. Brian Stavisky put down a bunt to move him to third. On the play the Caps pitcher Matt Pender got the ball fell down then threw the ball over the head of the first baseman. Cruz would score. John McCurdy then put down another bunt, this time Pender went for it and collided with the first baseman. The firstbaseman got the ball and threw to the second baseman for the out. Stavisky would move to second. John Suomi lined out to right, on the play Stavisky would tag and move to third. Then things got very scary. Nick Rogers one hopped one back to the mound. Pender couldn't get out of the way of the ball and it caught him on the cheek. He droped straight down. Everyone ran out and they eventually had to get an ambulance to help him to the hospital. The word I heard was awake and alert but taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. I hope to find out more tomorrow. Stavisky scored on the play. Rogers then stole second on the Caps reliever, Jordan Gerk. Francis Gomez doubled down the line to right to score Rogers. Kory Wayment would strikeout to end the inning.

The Cougars did score another run in the sixth. Brant Colamarino took one out to straight away center. It hit off of the Re Robin baskett, right off the sign. I was surprised it went out because off the bat it looked like a pop up to medium center but it just carried out of here to center. The homer was his third off the season.

Kane COunty had one more shot to score some runs in the eighth. John Baker lead off with a single to right. Nelson Cruz then was hit by a pitch. Stavisky and McCurdy both struck out, for the first two outs of the inning. Suomi popped out to second to end the inning.
