The Cougars got their eighth win of the season, and their first shutout, in their 3-0 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Cougars with the win are now 8-28 on the season.

The pitching really set the tone. Craig Italiano pitched well. Eventhough his outing was cut short. He was hit in the forehead by a liner off the bat of Carlos Triunfel in the third inning, and was helped off the field after some time. He is reportably spending the night in the hospital. Craig gave up three hits, and struck out five in his outing. Jason Fernandez then came in and pitched very well. He went three and one thirds innings, giving up two hits and striking out six.

Fernandez really had to get out of trouble in the fourth inning. With one out, Andy Hargrove singled to left. Danny Santin then doubled to right center, getting Hargrove to third. Kalian Sams was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Fernandez then was able to settle down and get Kou hui Lo to ground into the inning ending double play.

Wisconsin did get some runners later, Brandon Dewing came on and pitched well. He would go an inning and two thirds, giving up three hits and getting three strike outs. In the seventh inning, Santin led it off with a single to center. Dewing then got Sams to strikeout. Lo then popped one up to right, the right fielder, Jermaine Mitchell, should've caught the ball, but it fell, so first and second and one out. The wind was blowing 25+ miles an hour towards center and the sun was shinning in his face?. Dewing then struck out Greg Halman, and was able to get Alex Meneses to ground out to third to get out of the inning.

Scott Moore was then able to come in with two outs in the eighth and pick up his second save of the year. He would come in after Carlos Peguero singled to center. Moore then struck out Hargrove to end the inning. In the ninth, Kalian Sams doubled off the center field wall, but a line out and a fly out later, and the Cougars would have a win.

The offense woke up, for at least one evening. In the third inning Greg Dowling would hit a solo homer to right center. In the sixth inning, Jake Smith hit a solo homer over the Nicor sign on the scoreboard in left center. In the seventh inning with two outs, Mitchell singled to second. Todd Johnson then doubled to left center, and Mitchell sprinted home.

That wouldn't be all for the Cougars offense they did have some more chances in the game to score. In the first inning Mike Massaro led it off with a single to center. One out later, Dowling singled to center. A fly out and a ground out later the inning was over. In the second inning with one out, Smith singled to left. Isaac Omura then singled to right. Matt Sulentic then struck out for the second out. Massaro would pop up foul to end the inning. In the fifth inning, Massaro led it off with a walk. One out later, the Rattlers made a pitching change. Dowling then singled to left. First and second one out, Alex Valdez then hit into a fielder's choice, with Dowling out at second. Mitchell then pop up to end the inning. The eight inning the Cougars would load the bases. Omura led off with a walk. One out later, Massaro walked. One out later, Dowling walked. Valdez would then be caught with the bat on the shoulder to end the inning.

Greg Dowling had a great night, he had three hits, including a homer. Greg got two singles and a walk also. Mike Massaro also had a good night, he would get two hits. Mike reached base four out of the five times he came to the plate, with two walks.
