The Cougars would play catch up all game and just not be able to get the job done in the ninth as they would score three runs, but still lose 8-6. Scott Moore made his first start of the season and got hammered in two and two thirds innings of work.
The offense did have two good innings in the game, both innings they would score three runs. Seven of their nine hits would also be in those two innings. Both ininng would have their big hits as three run homers by Corey Brown and Matt Ray.
In the sixth inning, Michael Lissman led off with a single to center. Larry Cobb then followed with a single to left. One out later, Corey Brown hit his first homer in almost a month. As this one went to center for a three run blast.
Unfortunatly the Rattlers would still have a one run lead, as they had scored four runs in the third inning. With one out Edilio Colina singled to second. Garvin Dickey then doubled to left to score Colina. Alex Liddi followed with a single to center to score Dickey. Liddi would then steal second. Calvin Beamon tripled to center to score Liddi. Ron Garth then was hit by a pitch. That would be the end of the night for Moore, as Scott Hertzler would come on. Garth then stole second, and Beamon would steal home. Hertzler struck out Denny Almonte, and got Israel Nunez to ground out to get out of the inning.
It could've been worse for the Cougars late in the game for a comeback as the Rattlers had chances throughout the game to add to the lead. In the first inning with one out, Juan Diaz walked. One out later, Dickey walked. Men on first and second with two outs, Liddi would ground into a force out. In the second inning, Beamon led off with a single to right, he would then be picked off of first. Garth walked, followed by a Almonte single to center. First and third one out. Nunez then hit the ball back towards Moore who threw home to get Garth.
Wisconsin scored four more times in the sixth inning to widend the margin. Almonte led off against Lance Sewell with a walk. Nunez then doubled to left. Maximo Mendez grounded out to get Almonte home. One out later, Colina would double to center to score Nunez. Dickey then reached on an error by shortstop Ray. Liddi would then double to left to score both Colina and Dickey.
Kane County did score three times in the ninth to make it interesting. Jonathan Johnston pitch hit for Matt Smith to lead things off, and got a double to left. Carlos Arrieche then singled to center. Ray would hit a three run homer to left. One out later, Cobb singled to left. The Rattlers then brought in Jose Escalona to replace Walter Suriel. One out later, Brown walked, first and second with two outs. Wisconsin then brought in Justin Souza to replace Escalona. Jake Smith flew to center to end the game.1l>
