Trevor Cahill pitched well, he went five innings, giving up three hits and a walk. Unfortunatly the Cougars would only get three hits on the entire night and lose to go back to twenty games under for the year.

Cahill had a couple of times he was in trouble during the game. In the first inning, Bridger Hunt led off with a walk, then was caught stealing. One out later, Adolpho Gonzalez doubled to left center. Cahill then got James Peterson to ground out. In the third inning with two outs, Hunt singled to center, he then stole second and went to third on the errant throw.

The Loons offense came alive when Cahill left, and Henry Rodriguez came in. In the seventh inning the Loons scored twice, with one out Josh Bell walked. Scott Van Slyke then reached on an error by Alex Valdez. One out later, Trayvon Robinson walked to load the bases. Bridger Hunt then blooped a single just over the shortstop to drive in both Bell and Van Slyke. Rodriguez was then able to get Francisco Lizarraga on strikes to end the inning.

Great Lakes scored once more in the eighth inning. Gonzalez led it off with a single to left. Peterson then doubled to center. Gonzalez was out at home on a great relay throw by Mike Affronti. Eduardo Perez then singled to right. Bell doubled down the left field line to score Peterson. Rodriguez was then able to get a strike out and a ground out to end the inning.

The Loons had one more chance at some runs in the ninth inning. With one out Rodriguez walked Hunt. One out later, T.J. Franco came on to pitch, Gonzalez greeted him with a single to center. First and third with two outs. Perez then grounded out to second to get out of the inning.

Kane County had some chances but just nothing really clicked. In the second inning, Greg Dowling led it off with a walk. Valdez and Affronti then struck out, and Todd Johnson lined to center. In the third inning, Larry Cobb led it off with a walk. He would get to third on two ground outs, then Jermaine Mitchell would get caught looking to end the inning.

In the fourth inning with two outs, Valdez was struck out, but made first on a wild pitch. Actually the only reason he made first is the flip from the catcher to first was off line. Affronti then singled to center. Johnson then lined to center. In the sixth a double play would erase a one out walk.

The seventh inning the Cougars had another chance. With one out, Affronti was hit by a pitch, then went to second on a wild pitch. A lineout later, Cobb walked. Matt Sulentic then popped out to short. In the eighth inning a double play would erase a leadoff single.

The ninth inning the Cougars had their best chance, but they made one errant decision, in my opinion. Greg Dowling and Alex Valdez walked to lead things off. One out later, Todd Johnson was pitch hit for by Haas Pratt. Pratt singled to right to load the bases. The Loons then made a pitching change. The Cougars had two chances to tie the game, Larry Cobb was the scheduled hitter. I can see leaving him in the game to hit. Unfortunatly he would strike out looking after fouling off three pitches. What I cant seem to understand is that, Cougar manager Aaron Nieckula then pitch ran for Pratt with Christian Vitters. Yes Vitters was the tieing run, but Sulentic isnt hitting much this year. Why not pitch hit Vitters for him. Sulentic would ground out weakly to the pitcher to end the game.
