The Cougars, Jamie Richmond had two bad innings. In those innings the Burlington Bees would score twice in each of those innings, and take game one of a doubleheader.
Jamie Richmond went the complete game, giving up six hits and four runs. He didnt walk anyone and strukc out five. His problems began in the second inning. Alwin Perez led off with a double down the left field line. One out later, Wilson Tucker then triple off the right field wall to score Perez. Antonio Jimenez would then ground one to first baseman, Greg Dowling. Dowling threw home to try to get Perez. Perez beat the throw to score the second run.
The other problems came in the fifth inning with two more runs allowed. With two outs, Adrian Ortiz singled to left. David Lough then tripled to the right centerfield wall to score Lough. Mike Moustakas then doubled to right center to score Lough. Moustakas went to third on a wild pitch by Richmond. Richmond then struck out Jason Taylor looking to end the inning.
The Cougars would score two runs in the game. In the third inning they would get their first run. With one out, Carlos Arrieche singled to left. Matt Ray then singled to right. One out later, Larry Cobb singled to left to score Arrieche. Greg Dowling then grounded out to second to end the inning.
Jonathan Johnston hit his first professional home run, over the right field wall with two outs in the fourth for the Cougars other run.
