Things were sloppy from the begining of the game, then the Cougars couldnt stop the Burlington offense. They would lose game two of the doubleheader 5-3. This is the first time in five doubleheaders this year that the Cougars are swept.

Things were bad from the begining of the game. Brent Lysander made his Cougar debut. In the first inning, Adrian Ortiz reached on an error by second baseman Larry Cobb. Wilson Tucker then singled to second. Mike Moustakas then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Ortiz. Lysander then gave up a two run homer to left by Jason Taylor. Jamar Walton singled to center, Walton would then be caught off of first, but would make it safly to second, as Cobb dropped the ball. Catcher Jonathan Johnston then tried to throw behind Walton, the ball got away into center. Shane Keough was backing up the play so no advancement. Kyle Martin then walked. Lysander then got Antonio Jimenez on strikes. Zach Evangelho grounded out to end the inning.

Todd Johnson led off the second inning with a single to third. Johnston would reach on a fielder's choice with Johnson being out at second, Johnston beat the relay throw for the double play attempt. Michael Lissman hit a two run homer to put the Cougars on the board.

In the bottom of the inning, Lysander would give up another run. With one out, Ortiz reached on a bunt single back to the pitcher. He then stole second. Tucker would then double down the left field line to score Ortiz. Lysander would then be able to get Moustakas on strikes and Taylor to fly out to end the inning.

Thats the way the game would remain untill the fifth inning when both teams scored a run. Carlos Arrieche led it off with a single to left. Matt Ray then walked, and Keough singled to center. On the single Arrieche was thrown out at the plate. One out later, Greg Dowling singled to right to score Ray.

Burlington would score their run with a leadoff homer by Wilson Tucker to left off of reliever Scott Deal. Deal did a nice job of relief after coming in for Lysander in the third. He went three and two thirds inning, giving up four hits. The only run he would give up is the homer, and he struck out four.

The score could've been worse but for some good pitching in the sixth inning to get out of a jam. Kyle Martin led off with a bunt single to third. Antonio Jimenez then singled to center. Zach Evangelho would strike out while trying to get a sacrifice bunt down to move the runners. Nick Doscher then poped up foul to first for the second out. The Cougars brought in Lance Sewell to get the final out. He would throw a wild pitch to move the runners to second and third. Ortiz then flew to left to end the inning.
