A great pitching matchup tonight as Kyle Parker and Andrew Bailey both pitched very well. The Cougars would lose 1-0 to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Andrew Bailey pitched six innings, he gave up three hits and one homer. Bailey walked two and struck out eleven. He was able to get out of some tuff jams with men on third.
In the first inning Bailey gave up a two out single to Leury Bonilla, who then stole second. Andy Hargrove then struck out. Juan Beltran led off the third inning with a bunt single to third. He would then be caught trying to steal second. In the fourth inning, Alex Meneses led off with a walk, then stole second and went to third on a throwing error. Bailey was then able to get Bonilla to fly out. Hargrove and kalian Sams to strike out.
Kuo Hui Lo led off the fifth inning with a walk. Alex Liddi then bunted him over to second. Beltran moved him to third with a ground out. Bailey then got Ogui Diaz to strike out.
The one run against Bailey was a leadoff homer by Greg Halman in the sixth inning. Bailey struck out eleven Rattlers, only one of them was caught looking.
On the other side Kyle Parker was equally dazaling. He would retire the first nine hie faced. Mike Massaro then reached on an error to leadoff the fourth, he would be erased by a double play. After that Parker retired the next six he faced before Christian Vitters broke up the no hitter in the sixth with one out. Unfortunatly the next hitter Gustavo Rosendo would hit a fly to right and Vitters was doubled off of first to end the inning.
In the seventh inning, Jermaine Mitchell had a one out double to left. In the eighth inning Todd Johnson led off with a single to center.
The bullpens for both teams were great. Andrew Barb for the Rattlers pitched one and two third innings of perfect ball. T.J. Franco pitched two hitless innings for the Cougars. He walked one.
