Well, good pitching from Scott Hodsdon, and Larry Cobb's hitting helped get the Cougars a win agianst the Burlington Bees today 4-2.

Scott Hodsdon pitched well, he went seven innings and gave up six hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out six. He was able to pick off Jason Taylor twice on the bases which really helped.

In the second inning, Taylor led off with a single to left, a wild pitch moved him to second. Hodsdon was then able to pick him off of second, with a throw to Larry Cobb. James Walton then walked and stole second. Hodsdon would be able to get Kyle Martin on strikes and Alwin Perez to ground out to end the inning. Int he sixth inning Hodsdon gave up his first run. With one out, Ryan Eigsti singled to center. Adrian Ortiz then reached on a fielder's choice with Eigstri being out at second. Wilson Tucker singled to right to get Ortiz to third. Mike Moustakas then singled to right to score Ortiz. Tucker went to third, on the throw to third, it got away a little from Carlos Arrieche. Moustakas moved into second. Taylor would then ground out to end the inning.

Jamar Walton then hit leadoff homer in the seventh inning. It would be his second homer of the series. After that, Kyle Martin would be hit in the head by a pitch. Hodsdon then settled down. He would get Alwin Perez to strike out. Antonio Jimenez then grounded out and Ryan Eigstri struck out to end the inning.

The eighth and ninth ining Cougar reliever Nick Walters would have to get out of some trouble. In the eighth inning Adrian Ortiz led off with a single off of Walters, Ortiz then stole second. Wilson Tucker popped up a bunt. Moustakas then grounded out to short, Ortiz held at second. Jason Taylor would be intentionally walked after two pitches out of the strike zone. Runners on first and second, Walton came up and grounded out to end the inning.

Kyle Martin led off the ninth inning with a single to center. Perez then would be called out on strikes. Antonio Jimenez then hit one back towards the mound. Walters would knocked the ball over to short, Matt Ray got the ball stepped on second and threw to first to turn the double play and end the game.

The Cougars would score four runs, two in the first and one in the fifth inning. With one out in the first Jonathan Johnston singled to center, then stole second. One out later, Todd Johnson walked. Larry Cobb then hit a double to the wall in center that would allow both Johnston and Johnson to score. In the third inning, Johnston led off with a walk, then stole second. One out later, Johnson walked. Johnston would be picked off second, Johnson also was a ways away from the base, the third baseman threw to first after Johnston was taged out. The throw got away and Johnson went to second. Cobb flew to right to end the inning. The fourth inning saw Jake Smith break out of a slump and get a one out single to left. One out later, Michael Lissman singled to third. The ball play the third baseman and go into left. First and second two outs, Shane Keough lined one back to the pitcher to end the inning.

Johnston led off the fifth inning with a single to left, then stole his third base of the game. He stole second, Greg Dowling then singled to center. Johnson would reach on a fielder's choice, with Dowling being out at second. Johnson then tried to steal second, and would be safe, then he over slid the base. Cobb then hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Johnston. Johnson would apparently hurt his shoulder? on the slide and be taken out of the game.

In the sixth inning Matt Ray led off with a single to second. One out later Arrieche singled to center. The Lissman flew to right, and Keough struck out. In the eighth inning, Cobb led off with a walk. Ray would hit into a double play.

The final run for the Cougars came in the ninth inning. With one out, Lissman doubled to left. Keoguh then singled to right to score Lissman.
