The offense came alive for two good innings of work today, as the Cougars would win 4-1 over the Quad City River Bandits.

Jamie Richmond pitched well, he went six innings, just giving up one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out six. His one bad inning was his last, he was struggling with getting the ball up during the inning.

Jamie got out of trouble in the first inning with two outs, Charlie Kingrey singled up the middle. Francisco Rivera then singled to left. First and second with two outs. Richmond would get Jose Garcia to ground into a force out to end the inning. In the third inning a one out hit by pitch would be erased by a double play.

His trouble came in the fifth inning. Mike Folli led off with a walk. Richmond then struck out the next two hitters on six pitches. Kingrey would single to left. Rivera then singled to center to score Folli. Garcia then walked to load the bases. Richmond would get Adron Chambers to pop one back to him, and Jamie threw to first to double off Garcia to end the inning.

The offense finally clicked in the second inning. Danny Hamblin led off by drawing a walk, then went to second on a wild pitch. One out later, Larry Cobb doubled to left to score Hamblin. Cobb would get to third on a wild pitch. The story of the game was, the Cougars had chances but just couldn't get runners around from scoring position. Jonathan Johnston and Dusty Napoloen both flew to left to end the inning.

In the first inning Adam Klein led off with a single to center, Shane Keough then grounded into a double play. Matt Ray led off the third inning with a walk, then went to second on a wild pitch. Klein would single to center. First and third no outs, Klein steal second. Keough and Greg Dowling would strike out. Hamblin then walked to load the bases. Corey Brown would strike out to end the inning.

Cobb led off the fourth with a walk, Cobb would be thrown out at second, after a wild pitch. He tried to get to second and over slid the base and would be out trying to get back to the base. Johnston then walked. The Bandits then brought in Matt Spade to replace starter Blake King. Spade struck out Napoleon. Matt Ray would then pop up foul to first to end the inning.

Adam Klein led off the fifth with a walk. Keough grounded to second, Klein went to second. Dowling then struck out. Hamblin would ground out, Klein would be stranded at second. In the sixth inning, Brown led off with a single to center. Cobb hit into a double play.

Finally in the eighth inning the Cougars would grab the lead with three runs. With two outs, Hamblin walked. Brown then doubled down the right field line to score Hamblin. Cobb would double off the left center field wall, to score Brown. Johnston then singled to short. Napoleon would single to center to score Cobb. Johnston would be out at the plate to end the inning.

Chad Kerfoot did a nice job in the seventh and eighth innings. Justin Friend got the save, with two strike outs in the ninth.
