It's kind of bad when the Cougars are now 3-15 when behind after the seventh inning, and 1-6 when they score first at home. They would lose to the Lansing Lunguts 2-1. All of this despite a good outing by Michael Rogers.

Rogers went the first six innings and gave up all of three hits. He would walk two and strike out four. He really only got into any amount of trouble three times. in the first inning he allowed Jason Armstrong to leadoff the game with a single to center. One out later, he would get to second on a wild pitch. Eric Nielsen then poped out to right. Chip Cannon then struck out looking to end the inning. The only other times he would be in any trouble would be the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Christian Snavely led off with a single to center, then would amazingly be caught trying to steal second. Rogers then struck out the next two, to end the inning. In the sixth inning with one out, Curtis Thigpen singled to third. A double play would erase him and the Lugnuts.

The Lugnuts starter A.J. Wideman also went six innings and pitched well. He would give up four hits and one run. He retired the first four Cougars, then gave up a single to Myron Leslie, before striking out the next two. In the third innig, Kory wayment would led off by drawing a walk. Wideman then got Travis Chapman to ground into a double play.

The Cougars would get a run in the sixth. Chapman would lead off the inning by reaching on an error by the short stop Ryan Klosterman. Ryan Ruiz then put down a sacrifice bunt to move Chapman over. The Lugnuts tried to get him at first but the pitcher fell down and the throw was wide. Chapman would be picked off of second base by Wideman. Wes Long walked. Javier Herrera then singled to left to score Chapman. Jose Pineda then lined out to first for the second out. Leslie struck out to end the inning.

Lansing scored both of their runs off of reliever J.R. Pickens. In the seventh, Cannon led off with a walk. Klosterman then reached on a fielder's choice, with Cannon being out at second. Corey Patton then hit a homer to right center field. Pickens then got Snavely to strike out. After an error by Wayment allowed Yuber Rodriguez to reach, Pickens would get Juan Peralta to ground out to end the inning.

The Lugnuts actually could've scored twice more off of Pickens in the next few innings. In the eighth inning with one out. Thigpen reached on a bunt single to third, he would then be picked off by Pickens. In the ninth inning, Cannon led off with a double to center. Klosterman then flew out to center, Cannon tagged up an went to third. Pickens then was able to get Patton and Snavely to strike out.

The Cougars had one more chance and that would be in the ninth inning. With one out, Leslie walked. Tommy Everidge then singled to center. Chris Tritle then pitch ran for Leslie. Eddie Kim pitch hit for Chalon Tietje. Kim swung through a couple of pitched and then would hit into the game ending double play.
