Cougar pitcher Andrew Bailey made three mistakes in his outing against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Two of those were sent over the fence and the other was a triple. Besides that Bailey pitched very well, he walked none and struck out ten. Andrew would get the loss, after pitching five and one thirds inning and giving up six hits.

His first mistake came to the first batter of the game, Ryan Mount hit a homer to right. After that Bailey would strike out the next three hitters to end the inning. In the third inning with one out, Bailey gave up a triple to Abel Nieves. Right fielder Matt Sulentic dove for the ball and missed, the ball then rolled to the wall. Mount then came up and planted a single down the right field line to bring home Nieves.

Bailey's other mistake came in the sixth inning, when he gave up a solo homer to Chris Pettit. In between he would have a little trouble in the fifth inning with two outs. Nieves singled to right. Mount then singled down the right field line to get Nieves to third. Wilberto Ortiz then grounded out to short to end the inning. After Bailey gave up the homer in the sixth, he would strike out the next hitter. Then he gave up a double off the wall in right to Hank Conger. A ground out and a pop out later and the inning was over.

The Kernels threw David Herndon at the Cougars and he pitched five solid innings for them. he allowed five hits and one unearned run. Herndon walked none and struck out four.

The Cougars offense just never really clicked tonight. They would get a total of six hits and one unearned run. In the second inning Alex Valdez had a one out single to center. Todd Johnson was then out trying to get a bunt base hit to first. Isaac Omura then ground out. In the third inning the Cougars would get a gift run and then have another one taken away from them. With two outs, Mike Massaro would reach on an error by the third baseman. The throw was low and got away, plus Massaro might've beaten the play. Mike Affronti singled to third. Jermaine Mitchell then doubled to center to drive home Massaro. Affronti tried to score also, he was safe. The ump called him out for some unknown reason, as Affronti clearly slide under the tag. Unfortunatly Affronti took his helmet off and slammed it on the ground and promptly got himself ejected. He was safe, and in my opinion should'nt have been tossed from the game.

In the fourth inning Greg Dowling singled to right to lead things off. Two line outs and a pop out later the inning was over. In the fifth inning, with one out Gustavo Rosendo singled to short. One out later, Christian Vitters singled to center, just past the shortstop. Mitchell then struck out to end the inning.
