James Heuser pitched a great game. He threw six innings, giving up two hits and no runs. Heuser walked three and struck out nine. He also picked up his third win of the season.
Heuser gave up a two out single in the first inning but then was able to get a liner to third. In the second inning things almost came apart. With one out, Ryan Mount singled to first, then stole second. Sweeney then tried for third and was picked off. Tyler Johnson walked. Abel Nieves reached on an error by the third baseman. A wild pitch would move the runners to second and third. Heuser then got Marco Albano to strike out to end the inning.
In the third inning a two out walk, wouldn't hurt Heuser. The fourth inning, Heuser walked Mount with one out. A ground out got Sweeney to second, and a balk got him to third. Nieves then was caught looking to end the inning. After that, the fifth was spotless and the sixth had Heuser hit Mark Trumbo with one out, but get out of the inning with two strike outs.
The offense didnt scored untill the sixth inning, and they really didnt do anything before that. In the sixth inning, Jermaine Mitchell led off with a single to center. One out later, the Kernels would make a pitching change. Haas Pratt walked. Christian Vitters then lined one down the right field line to drive in Mitchell. Larry Cobb then hit one to the track in left, which allowed Pratt to tag up and score.
The final half inning of the game, Scott Moore came in for the save. He would get Tyler Johnson on strikes. Nieves then lined one to first, first baseman Haas Pratt then made a spectactular diving catch towards the line to take away extra bases. Moore then got Albano to end the game on strikes.
