How do the Cougars go 8-19 at home, they usually win most of their games at home not on the road. Even thogh the Cougars are 16-12 on the road. Hey at least their not in last place, at least not yet.

The Cougars get ahead with a run in the first inning, then the light goes out on the offense, they cant get anything going the rest of the game. Meanwhile the Wizards hit three homers and score six runs, to take the first game of the series.

Kane County is now 1-7 at home when they score first. Kevin Melillo led off the first with a single to center. One out later, Javier Herrera walked. Raul Padron then singled to left to score Melillo. On the first pitch Myron Leslie saw, he hit into a innning ending double play.

After that they would have three more chances at runs and would come up empty each time. In the fifth inning, Nick Blasi doubled to center to lead things off. Eddie Kim them popped up foul to third. Travis Chapman struck out. Melillo would then be caught looking to end the inning and strand Melillo at second.

Ryan Webb started for the Cougars and pitched ok. He went seven innings, givign up seven hits and six runs. He basically had three bad inning, in which he gave up the six runs. It was really just the long ball that got him, he gave up two, two run homers a solo shot and a sacrifice fly.

In the first inning though, Chris Kolkhorst led off the game with a walk. Brett Dowdy then reached on a fielder's choice, with Kolkhorst being out at second. Peter Ciofrone reached on another fielder's choice. Colt Morton then lined to left. In the second inning, Tom Vincent led off with a single to right. Webb then got, Lachlan Dale looking. Brett Dowdy singled to center to get Kolkhorst to third. Ciofrone hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Kolkhorst.

In the sixth inning, Tom Vincent led off with a single to center, then stole second. Dale then hit a two run homer to left to finish off the scoring. The Wizards had one more chance to score, this time in the ninth off of Marcus McBeth. With one out, Ramirez doubled to center. Herrera dove for the ball and missed and Ramirez hustled for a double. Kolkhorst then walked. Both runners would advance on a wild pitch. Runners on second and third with one out. McBeth got Dowdy to fly to right. He then got Ciofrone to pop out to second to get out of the jam.
