The Cougars took the lead in the third inning and never looked back as they won the game by two runs.
Chris Tritle lead off the third inning with a solo homer to left field that cleared the deck. One out later Luke Appert doubled to center. David Castillo singled to right, Appert went to third. Vasili Spanos then doubled to center to score both Appert and Castillo.
With one out in the fifth inning Luke Appert singled to left. Castillo would then ground out to the first baseman. Appert moved to second. Vasili Spanos then doubled to left to score Appert.
West Michigan would score twice in the sixth inning. Vince Blue led off with a bunt single to third. Juan Francia then singled to short. A wild pitch would move both runners along. Kody Kirkland then doubled to left to score both Blue and Francia. After that the Cougars would make a pitching change brinin in Jose Corchado in relief of Trent Peterson. Corchado got Kelly Hunt to pop out. Danilo Sanchez and Garth McKinney to strike out to end the inning.
With one out in the sixtth the Cougars would get those two runs back from the Caps. Luis Perez walked, then he was picked off of first base for the second out. Trevor Brown hit a homer to right center field. On the pitch before the catcher Sanchez thought it was strike three and headed for the dugout. Tritle singled to left. Brian Ingram then singled to left to score Tritle.
Castillo led off the seventh with a walk, he would get to second on a wild pitch. On eout later Brian Snyder would line one that bounced over the head of the short stop for a hit. Castillo would get to third. One out later Luis Perez walked, which loaded the bases. Brown then walked on five pitches to bring in Castillo.
The Whitecaps would make a game of it in the eighth by scoring three runs. With one out Francia walked. The Cougars then brought in J.R. Pickens to replace Jose Corchado. Kody Kirkland greated Pickens by doubling to left. Kelly Hunt would follow with a three homer to left field.

This Day In Cougars History (June 7th)
1994, Lou Lucca's three hits and three runs batted in pace the Cougars to a 7-6, 10 inning win over Peoria.
1995, Aided by the sloppy Wisconsin deffense, the Cougars rally for two in the bottom of the 9th for a 4-3 win over the Timber Rattlers.
1997, The Cougars allow three unearned runs in the seventh inning, handing Wisconsin a 5-3 win.
