The Cougars would be ahead in the game 3-1, and lose the game 4-3 to the Clinton Lumberkings in the first game of their series. Jared Trout pitched well in his six innings of work. He had a no-no going untill two outs in the fourth. He would give up three hits and one run in all. The problem would be the bullpen, and thier wildness.

With Jose Corchado coming in for the ninth inning in relief of J.R. Pickens, he walked Lizahio baez to led off the inning. Baez was pitch ran for by Brandon Boggs. Ben Harrison then moved Boggs along with a bunt. The Cougars then intentionally walked, Andrew Wishy. Corchado would then walk, Casey Benjamin to load the bases with one out. Brandon Cashman struck out, the pitch got away from catcher Travis Chapman to allow all the runners to advance. With the score tied, that ment that Boggs came home with the game winning run on a wild pitch.

The Cougars grabbed the lead in the third inning with two runs but could've scored before that. In the first inning, Kevin Melillo led off the game with a walk, then stole second. One out later, Javier Herrera would be hit by a pitch. One out later, Myron Leslie walked which would load the bases with the two outs. Jose Pineda struck out to end the inning. In the second inning, Nick Blasi led off with a walk, then stole second. Blasi would move to second on a Eddie Kim grounder. With Blasi at second and one out, Kory Wayment would be caught looking. Melillo then grounded out to end the inning.

Kane County finally scored a couple of runs in the third inning. Ruiz led off with a walk. Herrera then singled to center. One out later, Leslie singled to center to score both Ruiz and Herrera. Jose Pineda then doubled to left, Leslie would make it to third. The Kings then made a pitching change. Blasi walked to load the bases with one out. Eddie Kim then popped up to short. Kory Wayment would line out to third to end the inning.

Kim led off the sixth inning with a double to left. One out later, Melillo would double to right to score Kim. The Cougars would be ahead 3-1 at this point in the game.

Jared Trout was on cruise for the first five innings. He didnt give up a hit untill two outs in the fourth. The only other runner that would get on was on a droped third strike/wild pitch. Trout would then pick him off of first to end the inning. Trouble hit in the sixth inning, when the Kings scored one run. With one out, Brandon Cashman tripled to right. Tug Hulett then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Cashman.

The Kings tied the game in the seventh inning with two unearned runs off of reliever J.R. Pickens. Emerson Frostad led off the inning with a single to right. Lizahio Baez then reached on a fielder's choice, with Frostad being out at second. One out later, Andrew Wishy would reach on a throwing error by short stop Kory Wayment. Baez scored and Wishy went to second. Casey Benjamin then singled to center to score Wishy to tie the game.
