Both starting pitchers pitched very well in today's game. The Cougars Ryan Ford went six innings, giving up three hits and one run. The Bees Pat Hicklen went into the seventh, giving up three hits and four runs. He would walk three and strikeout four Cougars.

The Cougars would have just enough offense to win their second game in a row. This time over the Burlington Bees 4-1.

Both starters were just humming along untill the fifth inning. In the first three innings, Ford would get runners on second base. In the first, with one out, Ed Lucas reached on a throwing error by shortstop Gregorio Petit. Mario Lisson then singled to center. First and second with only one out for the Bees. Ford then was able to get Damaso Espino to line out to Petit, who made a nice play on the ball. Pete Marstrales then grounded out to third to end the inning.

In the third inning the Bees would have another runner on base. With two outs, Lucas singled to center, then stole second base. Ford got Lisson to line to third to end that inning. Ryan Ford then retired the next six he faced. In the sixth inning Burlington would get to him for their only run of the game.

With one out, Lucas doubled down the left field line, he then got a great jump and stole third, easily. Lisson lifted one to center for a sacrifice fly to score Lucas.

Pat Hicklen was great or should I say perfect through two outs in the fourth inning. He would walk, Javier Herrera, then get Raul Padron to pop out to second to preserve the no hitter.

That no hitter would end with the first batter in the fifth inning. Myron Leslie bounced one through the middle for a single. Jose Pineda then reached on a fielder's choice, with Leslie breaking up the double play at second. Tommy Everidge walked, to make it runners on first and second with one out. One out later, Gregorio Petit launched a three run homer to left.

Hicklen was then able to get settled down and retire the next four Cougars he faced. In the seventh he got into trouble. Leslie led off with a walk. Pineda then followed that with a double to center to score Leslie. Hicklen was then able to get a ground out, before he had to be taken out.

The Cougars bullpen was subperb today. Keith Perez, who just came off the disabled list recently pitched a perfect seventh. Tomas Cabaniel then pitched two perfect innings to get the save.
