Andrew Bailey had one off inning and it cost him the game. The Cougars lost to Clinton 2-0 to open the second half of the season. The game was four and a half innings long, because of rain. They actually played some of the bottom of the fifth, and Bailey gave up a run,

In the fourth the Lumberkings got the only two runs of the game. Marcus Lemon led off with a single to second. Jose Vallejo then reached on a bunt single back towards the mound. Both runners would move along a base on a wild pitch. One out later, Chad Tracy doubled to left to drive in both Lemon and Vallejo. Bailey then walked K.C. Herren intentionally to put runners on first and second with one out. Andrew was then able to get Mauro Gomez to strike out, and Jay Heafner to get caught looking to end the inning.

The Cougars did get four hits in the game. In the second inning with one out, Haas Pratt doubled to left. He would be stranded there after Sammy Hernandez struck out and Gustavo Rosendo grounded out. In the third inning with one out, Alex Valdez singled to third. Mike Massaro then reached on a fielder's choice with Valdez out at second. Massaro would then be out trying to steal second to end the inning.

Kane County had their best scoring chance in the fifth inning with one out. Sammy Hernandez singled to center. Rosendo then singled to center. Todd Johnson moved the runners along with a ground out to first. Valdez then struck out to end the threat.

Clinton pitched Mike Ballard pitched well in five innings. He gave up four hits and struck out five Cougars.
