Craig Italino did not have his best control of the year. He went four innings, giving up two hits and one run. Craig walked three, all in the first inning. The offense picked him up with homeruns and just good timely hitting.

Italiano did not factor in the decison but. Brad Hertzler came in and pitched great in getting the win. He would go the rest of the way, giving up only one unearned run.

The offense came alive with homers by Corey Brown and Dan Hamblin. Larry Cobb had three hits also.

The Cougars scored first in the first inning with two outs. Cobb singled to center. Brown then hit one way over the right field deck.

Another run for the Cougars in the fourth inning. Cobb led it off with a double to left. One out later, Dowling hit one down the right field line to score Cobb.

Italiano got into trouble in the first inning. He would walk Matt Lawson to lead off the game. Engel Beltre then grounded out to first on the first pitch. Lawson would then be caught trying to steal third by catcher Dante Love. Renny Osuna and Mitch Moreland then walked. Jonathan Greene would strike out looking to end the inning. In all Italiano threw 20 pitches in the first inning.

Clinton got to Italiano for a run in the second. With one out, Carlos Dominguez lined one to center. Centerfielder Corey Brown dove for the ball, and missed it rolled to the wall. Dominguez would get a triple. Miguel Alfonzo then grounded out to second to allow Dominguez to score.

The Kings got a runner to third in the third inning with two outs. Osuna doubled to right center, then went to third on a wild pitch. Italiano would get Moreland to ground to first to get out of the inning.

The last run the Kings scored was in the eighth inning. With two outs, Osuna singled to short. Shortstop Michael Richard made a nice play to get to the ball then tried to throw him out. Osuna was safe on the play, and went to second on the throwing error. Moreland then singled to right to score Osuna.

Brad Hertzler pitched the final five innings and really only got into trouble because of the error.

In the seventh inning, Dan Hamblin homered off the batters eye in center to leadoff the inning.

Notes-Well there must be a full moon or something, Pam Rasmussen sat in her assigned seat for her one time a half. And she lasted three innings before heading back to behind the plate. In the ninth an eagle was circling overhead of the ballpark.
