The Cougars would score four runs, and have enough pitching and defense tonight to hold on for a win against the Beloit Snappers. They would win 4-2 to even up their record in the second half, and try to stay out of the basement in their divison.

Michael Rogers pitched very well tonight, he went six innings, giving up five hits and two runs. Only one of the runs was earned, he also walked three and struck out six. The two runs were in the last two innings that he pitched.

In the first inning, Rogers gave up a two out walk to Deacon Burns, and a single to David Winfree. He would strike out Jeremy Pickrel to end the inning. A two out error in the second would be stranded at first after another Rogers strikeout.

The third inning, he gave up a leadoff walk to Landon Burt. Burt would be erased on a force play at second. In the fourth inning a one out bunt single by Trevor Plouffe, and a throwing error by Myron Leslie, led to Plouffe ending up on second with only the one out. Rogers then was able to get Mark Zamojc to ground out and Korey Feiner to fly out to end the inning.

Kane County did have some offense to go along with the pitching. They took the lead and never trailed, starting in the third inning. Nick Blasi led off with a single to third. Ryan Ruiz followed that up with a double to left to get Blasi to third. One out later, Tommy Everidge hit a sacrifice fly to right to allow Blasi to score and Ruiz to get to third with two outs. Jose Pineda then singled to left to score Ruiz. Kory Wayment struck out to end the inning.

Another run for the Cougars in the fifth inning. Everidge led off with a double to left. Pineda would groundout to allow Everidge to move up. One out later, Cliff Pennington got his first professional run batted in, as he singled to center to score Everidge to give the Cougars a three run lead. Travis Chapman struck out to end the inning.

That would be all that Rogers would need, even though he would give up a single run in each of the next two innings he still left the game with the lead. In the fifth inning, Dwayne White led off with a single to third. One out later, Luke Hughes singled to center to allow White to get to third. Deacon Burns then singled to center to score White. Hughes would be out at third for the second out. Winfree then hit into a fielder's choice to end the inning. In the sixth inning Trevor Plouffe would hit a one out solo homer to left field.

The Cougars added one more run in the sixth. Gregorio Petit led it off with a single to short. He would steal second and get to third on a wild pitch. One out later, Ruiz brought him home with a sacrifice fly to center.

Kane County had chances to score some more runs in the game. In the first inning, Leslie was given a two out walk, along with Everidge. Pineda struck out to strand both of them. In the second inning. Pennington was given a one out walk, then stole second. Chapman then walked. Pennington stole third, while Chapman would be picked off of first. Pennington on third with two outs, Petit would strike out to end the inning.

In the fourth inning, Pennington led off with a single to left. Chapman then followed with a walk. Petit got down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners along into scoring position. Blasi then walked, to load the bases with one out. Ruiz would strike out. The Snappers then brought in Josh Hill to replace Jose Mijares. He would get Leslie to ground out to end the inning. In the seventh, Pineda started things with a one out single. Wayment and Pennington would make outs and strand him on second. In the ninth inning, with one out, Leslie singled to center. Everidge then walked. Melillo would pitch run for him. The Cougars then would preform a double steal. Runners on second and third with one out, up two runs. Pineda struck out. Wayment then was caught looking to end the inning.

The bullpen held today. J.R. Pickens did a nice job in two innings of work. He gave up a single. Robert Semerano came on for the ninth and got the save.
