When it rains it pours, I guess could sum up tonights game or the weather lately. Yes just like the Cougars the weather has been in a severe drought. Yes tonight it raied, as the game wasnt able to get started for an hour or so after it was schedules. The Cougars bats rained on the Chiefs 4th of July parade, they would win 21-2. Making it the first time in at least eight years that they have score 21 runs. It was also the largest margin of victory since the Cougars beat the Battle Creek Yankees 20-0 on April 29th, 2003.
Tony Evans was spectacular for the Cougars, he pitched a complete game. It was only the second time all year, that has happend. He gave up four hits and two runs. Evans didnt give up a hit until one out in the third. After the hit, he didnt give up another one until a leadoff homer in the seventh. Evans threw 114 pitches, he was visably tired in the ninth but was still able to work around a one out walk, and get the complete game.
Offensivley, wow, were to start. Everyone of the starters had two hits, and eight of them drove in a run. Nick Blasi had our hits, and five runs batted in. Javier Herrera had four hits and five runs batted in.
Blasi led off the scoring in the first inning with a homer to left. In the second inning the Cougars would score five more runs. With one out, Jose Pineda doubled down the left fied line. Eddie Kim then hit one off the wall in rightcenter. Pineda sliped coming round third or he would've scored. Ryan Ruiz then doubled to leftcenter to score both Pineda and Kim. A wild pitch, which hit off of catcher Alan Rick's wrist, would move Ruiz to third. Gregorio Petit then walked. Blasi came up again and singled to left to score Ruiz. A wild pitch moved both runners up a base. One out later, Herrera singled to center to score both Petit and Blasi. The inning would end on a Herrera being picked off of first.
In the sixth they would score six runs to take a 12-0 lead. Raul Padron led it off with a single off the body of the first baseman. Myron Leslie then singled to left. Pineda would reach on a fielder's choice, with Padron being out at second. Kim then blooped one into left to score Padron. Ruiz doubled off the left field wall to score Pineda. Petit then blooped a single to left to score Kim. Blasi would hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Ruiz. Cliff Pennington got his first hit of the game, with a double down the right field line to score Petit. Herrera hit a broken bat single to center to score Pennington. Padron would ground out to second to end the inning.
Three more runs came in the fourth. Leslie led it off with a double to center. Pineda followed with a single to center. The Chiefs then made a pitching change. Kim would hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Leslie. Ruiz then grounded one to second. The second baseman threw to first, or actually towards first it ended up in the dugout, near the home plate side. Pineda scored and Ruiz would get to third on the error. Petit then grounded one to short and beat it out. Blasi then singled down the left field line to score Ruiz. Pennington would end the inning with a force out.
The Cougars took a break from scoring in the fifth and sixth innings. Herrera led off the seventh with a shot to right center. Five more runs came across in the eighth inning for the Cougars. Kim led off by reaching on an error by the first baseman. New Cougar/Last Year Cougar, Luis Perez pitch hit for Ruiz and singled to right. Petit then blooped one to center. The centerfielder traped the ball and that would load the bases. Blasi singled down the third base line to score Kim. Pennington then blooped one to left to score Perez. Herrera singled to left to score Petit. The Chiefs then made a pitching change, bringin in third baseman Aaron Smith. Padron greated him with a single to right to score Blasi. Leslie hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Pennington. Pineda then popped one up to first, the firstbaseman caught the ball and was able to double off Herrera from second to end the inning.
The Cougars could've scored in the fifth. With one out, Leslie walked. One out later, Kim would reach on an error. Ruiz would be caught looking to end the inning.
Peoria did score two runs in the game. Ryan Harvey led off the seventh with a homer to left center field. In the eighth inning, Aaron Smith doubled off the left field wall. One out later, Sam Fuld singled to right to score Smith.

The Cougars made a couple of roster moves today. Kevin Melillo and Kory Wayment moved to Stockton. Trent Peterson and Luis Perez moved from Stockton to Kane County
Random Notes-well the game got to be so much fun in the last few innings that some people in the press box, were watching a re-run of Friends on the tv......We had the Zooperstars here today, and it was the first time ive seen Mario Lemule, they just keep on coming up with other ones, I still think Ichiroach isnt a good idea......Ok ive talked about the good brats in Beloit, I guess its time to discuss the worst dogs in the league, other wise known as (Elfstrom Stadium Death Dogs), please somebody get some good hotdogs. I mean the Kosher jumbo dogs arent bad but they still arent anything special.....If anyone cares it was a good day, The Sox won, the Cougars won, and the Cubs lost. Now only have to work on the Yankees and the Twins losing and it would be a great day.....Remember to vote for Scott Podsednik for the last spot on the American League all star team, you can vote on mlb.com till Sunday I believe...
Happy 4th of July to everyone.. and please remember our troops.
