The Cougars were being threatend with being shutout for the eighth time this year going into the ninth against Peoria at home today, they would score three times to tie the game and send it into extra innnings. In the tenth inning they would score a run to give themselves a win, and a to game winning streak.

In the ninth with one out, Jose Pineda walked. Luis Perez then singled to second. One out later, Gregorio Petit walked to load the bases. Nick Blasi then came up and hit a double to center to clear the bases and tie the game at three.

The Cougars were shut down today by the Chiefs after scoring 21 runs yesterday. The would get four hits in five innings off of Chiefs starter Chris Shaver. Shaver walked four, but two double plays really took the steam out of the Cougars. Adalberto Mendez then shut them down on one hit over the next three innings. Finally the Cougars would get those three runs off of the Chiefs closer Jerry Blevins.

Trent Peterson took the ball for the Cougars for the first time this season. He pitched well in six innings of work. He would give up four hits and one run. He had eight strikeouts and two walks.

The Chiefs started things off scoring wise in the fourth inning with a run off of Peterson. With one out, Luis Montanez doubled down the right field line. Bo Flowers then singled to center, to get Montanez to third. Anthony Granado hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Montanez.

After that both teams would be quiet on the runs column for awhile. The Chiefs scored again in the seventh off of reliever Marcus McBeth. With one out, Aaron Smith singled to center. Joe Simokaitis walked. Sam Fuld then walked to load the bases. Corey Patterson's little brother, Eric then hit a sacrifice fly to right to allow Smith to score and Simokaitis to tag up and get to third. McBeth was able to get Ryan Harvey to pop out to center to get out of any further trouble.

Peoria's other run came in the eighth inning. Montanez led off with a double down the left field line, he would steal third, and score on an errant throw by catcher Roberto Arias.

The Chiefs had other chances, in the first inning, Sam Fuld led off the game with a single off of Peterson. Patterson would strikeout. Harvey then reached on a fielder's choice with Fuld out at second. In the second inning, Bo Flowers led off by reaching on a droped third strike wild pitch. He would've been out at first had the throw from Arias been good. Granado then walked. Oscar Bernard would strike out for the first out. Peterson then was able to get out of the inning with a double play.

Kane County had chances in the first eight innings. In the second inning, Tommy Everidge led off with a walk. Myron Leslie then singled to left. One out later, Perez would ground into an inning ending double play. In third inning, with one out, Petit singled to left. Blasi then walked. Cliff Pennington then grounded into an inning ending double play. In those two innings the Cougars left on two guys and hit into two inning ending double plays.

In the fourth inning, Javier Herrera led off with a hit to left. Within the next two outs, he would steal both second and third. With two outs, Herrera was on third. Pineda walked, Perez then would ground to second to end the inning and strand two more.

In the fifth inning, Arias led off with a walk. Petit then singled to left. Blasi lined out to center. One out later, Herrera then had a check swing nubber to third to force out Petit and end the inning. A double play in the seventh would erase a one out walk.

Herrera led off the tenth inning by beating out a grounder to first, the pitcher was a little slow to cover the base. Eddie Kim then pitch hit for Everidge. Kim grounded out to second. The only reason it wasnt a double play was the short stop threw the ball away, which would send Kim to second. Leslie then was intentionally walked. One out later, Perez singled to left to score Kim for the game winner.

Random Notes-Noon games should be outlawed, its too early to get up to watch a game, plus the day shouldnt even start before noon, so the earliest a game should start is maybe three.......I will be in Peoria on Thursday to watch the Cougars, it will be a good pitching matchup of Ryan Webb and Sean Gallagher....Then I have a book signing in Geneva Commons at the Barnes and Noble on Friday from 7-9....If thats to far away I have another one at the Barnes and Noble in Downers Grove on the 23rd of July.
