The Cougars swept the Peoria Chiefs, wow that felt good to say. They are also three games over .500 for the first time this year.
Ryan Webb pitched well, he went six innings, giving up all of three hits. Webb would walk one and strikeout three. Webb was able to get out of some trouble, in the third inning. With one out, Joe Simokaitis singled to right, it was the first hit of the game off of Webb. Sam Fuld then grounded one to first, Tommy Everidge got the ball and threw to second to get Simokaitis out on the force. The return throw to first by Cliff Pennington to Ryan Webb covering first was behind him and got by. Fuld would get to second on the error. Eric Patterson then lined out to center to end the inning.
Ryan Harvey would lead off the fourth inning with a double to left. Luis Montanez then was hit by a pitch. First and second with nobody out. Bo Flowers then flew out to center. Drew Larsen would ground into an inning ending double play. The play at first was close, plus the throw I think pulled Everidge off the base but he was called out. Chiefs manager Julio Garcia was then tossed from the game between innings. The ump motioned to throw Garcia out, then a minute later Garcia motioned to throw the ump out. The only problem is the ump gets to stay and Garcia has to go.
Shawn Gallagher started for Peoria and through the first three innings he was almost untouchable. The Cougars would score three runs off of him in the fourth inning. Besides that he only gave up one hit and no other runs.
In the fourth inning, Pennington led things off with a single to first. It was a grounder to first, the first baseman tried to throw it to the pitcher and ended up throwing the ball near the dugout. Javier Herrera then singled to leftcenter. Eddie Kim then singled to center to drive in Pennington. Myron Leslie then grounded into a double play. Jose Pineda would then launch one to left field for a two run homer.
Kane County would score once more in this game. In the eighth inning they scored one run. Nick Blasi led off with a single to center. Pennington then walked. One out later, Eddie Kim hit a sacrifice fly to center to allow Blasi. Pennington would be out trying to move up to second to end the inning.
Shawn Martinez made his pitching debut for the Cougars and looked good. He pitched two innings giving up only one walk. J.R. Pickens would pitch a perfect ninth.

Random Notes-The Chiefs held a NASCAR night, CAT #22 driver Scott Wimmer was there signing autos and his show car was there.... His show car was fired up before the start of the game, as it was being taken out of the park. He back it out onto the street and drove it on the street next to the stadium. It made a lot of noise as I believe it had to stop at a stop light. One question though, the cars dont have lights, so its not street legal, so what happends if its out on the street.....The pizza at this park is very good, they have Old Chicago pizza and its a little spicy but pretty good.....
