The Cougars got nothing to work against the Swing of the Quad Cities. They were held scoreless and had only five hits, plus they made an error. Nick Blackburn pitched a complete game, walking one and striking out four.

The Cougars had only one chance against him, that was in the sixth inning when Luis Perez led off with a double to left. Three ground outs later, the Swing were headed back to the dugout.

The Swing got on the board in the third inning with two runs. Paul Rutgers led off with a single to right. Ryan Spataro would follow by reaching on a fielder's choice, with Rutgers being out at second. J.R. Taylor then grounded one to short, Brian Ingrams throw to Luke Appert would pull him off of second base which ment everyone was safe. Cougar starter Steve Bondurant then tried to pick Taylor off at first, the throw would be wild and both runners moved along a base. Justin Arneson then struck out looking for the second out. Brock Peterson singled to left to score both Spataro and Taylor. Kyle Geiger then singled to left to get Peterson to third. Scott Whitrock would strike out to end the inning.

Arneson hit a solo homer to left center field to leadoff the eighth inning for the other run in the game.
