Well, you knew it had to end sometime, the cougars five game winning streak came to an end tonight as they could only score one run against Lansing, losing 5-1. Tony evans lost for the first time this season, only able to go into the fifth inning.
Lansing scored three runs in the third inning and never looked back. With one out, Curtis Thigpen walked. Christain Snavely then singled to right. Charlie Anderson would then hit his third homer of the year, this one to right. After that the Lugnuts then would score twice in the seventh. Jason Armstrong led off by being hit by a Jared Trout pitch. One out later, Derek Tharpe came on for some relief. He would walk Snaverly. A wild pitch would then move both runners into scoring postion with only one out. Anderson then singled to center to score both Armstrong and Snavely.
Evans got into trouble from the get go. In the first he hit Armstrong. Evans then got Curtis Thigpen to fly to right, they would catch Armstrong off of first for a double play. In the second inning with one out, Luke Hetherington walked. One out later, Aaron Mathews walked, followed by Yuber Rodriguez to load the bases. Evans then was able to get Eugenio Velez to ground out to end the inning.
A led off single in the fourth would led to nothing for the Lugnuts, as Mathews would be caught stealing. In the fifth with one out, Thigpen singled to right. Snavely then walked. One out later, Hetherington singled to short to load the bases. Jared Trout then was brought in for Evans. Trout struck out Ryan Klosterman to end the inning.
The Cougars only got seven base runners in the whole game. In the second inning a two out walk by Raul Padron and a single to center by Luis Perez would get nothing. Myron Leslie led off the fourth inning with his seventh homer of the season. A two out single in the fifth by Gregorio Petit led to nothing. In the sixth inning, Clff Pennington singled to first, he would get to second on a passed ball. And would get to third on a ground out, thats as far as he would get. Another two out single in the seventh got nowhere also.
