Wow, How do you lose a 7-0 and 12-4 leads in the first few innings then come back to win the game in ten innings 16-15. This was one of the sloppiest games I have ever seen as walks and errors were everywhere.
The Cougars would score seven runs in the first inning. Cliff Pennington led it off with a single to left. Luis Perez then walked. Javier Herrera also walks, this to load the bases. Tommy Everidge then singles to center to drive home Pennington and Perez. Myron Leslie walks to reload the bases with nobody out. Jose Pineda then singles up the middle to score Herrera. All the runners would move up a base with Everidge scoring on a wild pitch. Nick Blasi rolls one to third for a single to score Leslie. Roberto Arias then walks to reload the bases. Finally the Snappers made a pitching change, Gregorio Petit greated the new pitcher with a grounder to first for the first out, but Pineda would score. Pennington then grounded out to short for the second out, on the play Blasi scored. Perez grounded out to third to end the inning.
The Snappers then came back with four runs of their own in the next half inning, when that happends you know its going to be a long game. With one out, Trevor Plouffe walked. Johnny Woodards grounded one to right. Plouffe would score on a wild pitch with Woodard getting to second. Javier Sanchez then doubled to right center to score Woodard. Paul Rutgers walked. Landon Burt would ground one to first. Everidge threw to second to get the force out on Rutgers. The return throw from the Pennington was wild, allowing Sanchez to score. Luke Hughes then tripled down the right field line to score Burt. The Cougars then made a pitching change, taking out Michael Rogers and bringin in Jared Trout. Trout got Deacon Burns to line to center to end the inning.
Somehow if not on cue the Cougars would score four runs in the next half inning to take a 11-4 lead. Herrera led off with one off of the pitchers glove that he was able to beat out. Everidge then singled to left. Leslie singled to right. The rightfielder overan the ball allowing Herrera to score on the error. Pineda singled to rightcenter to score Everidge. The ball droped right in between the rightfielder and the centerfielder. Blasi walked with the bases loaded to force in Everidge. Arias reached on a fielder's choice, with Blasi being out at second. It would've been a double play but the return throw was low. One the throwing error by the second baseman Pineda would score as the ball got away.
With one out in the third the Cougars would add one more run. Herrera dribbled one to short, the short stop as he threw the ball threw it into the ground and Herrera was safe. Everidge then doubled down the left field line to get Herrera to third. Leslie walked to load the bases with only one out. Pineda then singled to leftcenter to score Herrera. One out later, Arias would end the inning by hitting into a force out.
Disaster struck the next four innings for the Cougar bullpen as they would let in eleven runs. In the fifth inning the Snappers scored four times. Plouffe led it off with a single up the middle. Woodard followed with a single to center. Sanchez then singled up the middle to load the bases with nobody out against Shawn Martinez. Rutgers would hit one down the left field line that was just foul, maybe by a foot or two. Rutgers would strike out for the first out. Burt then tripled down the right field line to score all three runners. Hughes grounded out to short to score Burt.
Beloit only scored one run in the sixth inning. With one out, Plouffe and Woodard both walked. Joe Scott had just come on to pitch for the Cougars. Sanchez singled to right to load the bases with nobody out. Rutgers then walked to force in Plouffe. Scott then was able to get the pitchers best friend, an inning ending double play.
Two more runs came in, in the seventh inning. Hughes led off with a walk. One out later, Winfree singled to right center. both runners moved up on a wild pitch. One out later, Plouffe doubled off the rightcenterfield wall to score both runners.
Sanchez led off the eighth with a single to left. Rutgers followed with another single to left. Burt then put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. Hughes would walk to load the bases. The Cougars then made a pitching change, taking out J.R. Pickens and bringin in Derek Tharpe. On the second pitch Tharpe threw Burns hit down the right field line for a triple to clear the bases. Winfree would then ground one to third, Leslie threw home to get Burt for the second out. Jeremy Pickrell then hit a double down the right field line to score Winfree. Plouffe flew out to left to end the inning. Beloit now had a two run lead.
Amazingly the Cougars would come back in the game. In the ninth inning, Pennington led off with a double to right. Luis Perez then deposited one onto the deck in left field to tie the game at 15. In the tenth inning, Pineda led off with a walk. Blasi moved him over with a sacrifice bunt. One out later, Petit singled to center to score Pineda and the celebration started.
In the fifth inning with one out, Everidge doubled to left. The Cougars wouldnt be able to move him. In the eighth inning, Leslie led off with a single up the middle. One out later, Blasi singled to center. Raul Padron pitch hit for Arias and popped up. Petit struck out to strand both runners. For Beloit in the fourth inning, with two outs, Burns walked. Winfree then singled to leftcenter. Pickrell would single to center. Burns scored or so we thought. Winfree would be thrown out at third to end the inning, I thought the run counted, but I guess both happend at the same time and there wasnt any arguement put up.
Tommy Everidge had one great game, he had four hits, three runs batted in, two runs scored. Everyone of the starters had a hit. Pennington, Perez, Herrera, Leslie, and Blasi had two hits. Pineda had three hits.Jared Trout did a nice job out of the pen as Rogers only went into the second inning. Trout pitched two and a third innings, giving up four hits, but no runs. His main problem was hit and two walks. Robert Semerano had to get out of a little trouble in the top of the tenth. With one out, Dwayne White singled to short. Burns then walked. Semerano struck out Winfree and got Pickrel to line out hard to center.
