Waiting for the Cougars to implode with one or two run leads isnt much fun. Waiting for them to implode with a ten run lead really isnt fun. Well they would win by six runs over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Rattlers scored four runs in the top of the ninth to make things frustratingly closer than we really needed it to be.

The Offense scored 12 runs on 12 hits, Raul Padron had two homers and five runs batted in. The Cougars would score eight times in the third inning.

The Rattlers would start the scoring in the second inning with two runs. Mike Wilson led off with a single to rightcenter. Marshall Hubbard then hit one down the right field line for a double. Luis Soto followed with a double to rightcenter to score both Wilson and Hubbard. Cougar starter Ryan Ford then got Omar Falcon to ground out, and Chris Colton to line to left to get out of the inning.

Kane County came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Tommy Everidge led off by being hit by a pitch. One out later, Padron hit one down the left field line. It was called a two run homer, but from where I was sitting it looked foul. After the homer, Nick Blasi doubled to rightcenter. David Castillo and Gregorio Petit both grounded out which would end the inning.

Eight runs in an inning for the Cougars in the third. Cliff Pennington led it off by reaching on an error. One out later, Javier Herrera and Everidge both walked, which would load the bases. Myron Leslie then blooped one into leftcenter to score both Pennington and Herrera. Padron then followed with a shot onto the deck in right for a three run bomb. Blasi then doubled down the right field line. Blasi moved to third on a wild pitch by starter Ivan Blanco. Castillo singled to left to score Blasi. Castillo would get to second on another wild pitch. Petit then walked. The Rattlers made a pitching change. One out later, Luis Perez doubled to leftcenter to score both Castillo and Petit. Herrera struck out to end the inning.

Two more runs in the eighth for the Cougars. Blasi led it off with a double down the left field line. Castillo then doubled to leftcenter to score Blasi. Petit singled to left. Pennington nubbed one to the right side of the mound. The pitcher tried to field it and then fell down and everyone was safe. Castillo would score on the play.

Ryan Ford pitched five good innings, if you take away the one inning in which the Rattlers scored. In all he gave up six hits, half of which were in that one inning. Mike Mitchell then came in and threw two good innings, giving up one hit. Robert Semerano came in for the final inning and gave up a hit but got the three outs.

Jared Trout started the ninth inning ahead by ten runs. Luis Soto led off with a walk. Falcon followe with a two run homer to rightcenter. Colton singled to center. Oswaldo Navarro and Brent Johnson walked which loaded the bases. With nobody out, at this point up by eight. Semerano then came in, he gave up a single down the left field line to Jack Arroyo to score both Colton and Navarro. A line out, and a double play would end the game.

THe Rattlers could've scored in the fourth inning. With one out against Ford. Wilson singled to third, I thought it should've been an error on Leslie. Hubbard then singled to center, Herrera misjudged the ball then came sprinting in and dove and missed the ball. Ford settled down and got Soto to ground out and Falcon to pop out to get out of it. A leadoff walk in the sixth by Ford went nowhere for the Rattlers.

In the seventh against Mitchell the Rattlers had another chance. Falcon led off with a walk. Colton then was caught looking. Navarro would then ground into a inning ending double play. In the eighth more trouble for the Cougars and Mitchell. Brent Johnson led off by reaching on a bloop behind second. Arroyo then reached on an error by Leslie. First and second with nobody out. Brandon Green popped out. Wilson then struck out, and Hubbard popped out.

Between the eight run third and the two run eighth the Rattlers retired the Cougars 12 batters in a row. With six ball getting out of the infield, and three strike outs.
