How inconsistant this team has been im suprised if Cougar manager Dave Joppie has any hair left this far into the season. The Cougars somehow scored a week worth of runs tonight as they would win 17-4.
The offense clicked but te impressive thing was Joe Scott. He started for the first time this season for the Cougars and gave them five good innings. He gave up a solo one out homer to Chris Colton in the fifth and that was it for runs against him. In the second with two outs, Rob Johnson walked. Matt T. then blooped a single to center to make it first and third with two outs. Scott then was able to get Colton looking to end the inning.
In the third he gave up a one out single to Brent Johnson. Scott got out of that with a strikeout and a fly out. in the fifth after the homer, one out later, Brent Johnson singled up the middle. Yung Chi Chen then singled to leftcenter. First and second with two outs, Brandon Green grounded out to end the inning.
The offense took care of the rest. In the first inning the Cougars went out to a three run lead. Cliff Pennington led it off with a single to center. Luis Perez then grounded a single to right. Javier Herrera lifted his seventh homer of the year, a three run shot to rghtcenter.
In the second inning seven of the nine Cougars in the lineup would score a run in the inning. With one out, David Castillo was hit by a pitch. Gregorio Petit then walked. Pennington followed with a walk to load the bases. One out later, Herrera singled up the middle to score both Castillo and Petit. Pennington was almost caught off second as he overan the base a little. Tommy Everidge walked to reload the bases. Myron Leslie then walked to force in Pennington with the third run of the inning. The Rattlers followed with a pitching change. Raul Padron greated the new pitcher with a double off of the top of the right field wall to clear the bases. Nick Blasi followed that up with another double to right this time to score Padron. Castillo would be caught looking to end the inning.
The third and fourth innings the Cougars caught their breath after scoring ten runs in the first two innings. In the fifth inning they would score one more run. With one out, Petit singled to left. Pennington then singled to right. Perez singled to left to drive home Petit. Herrera would hit into the inning ending double play. In the sixth inning the Cougars would score twice more. Everidge led it off with a single up the middle. Leslie followed with a single down the right field line. Padron then doubled down the left field line to score Everidge. One out later, Castillo would reach on an error by the shortstop. On the play Leslie would score.
The final four run for the Cougars came in the seventh inning. Perez led off wit a single to center. Herrera then doubled to left to score Perez. Everidge doubled down the left field line to score Perez. Leslie then hit a ground rule double down the right field line to score Herrera. Two outs later, Castillo beat a grounder to second to load the bases. The Rattlers then made a pitching change. Petit greated the new pitcher with a single up the middle to score Leslie. Pennington struck out to end the inning.
The Rattlers would score three more runs in the game. In the eighth inning, Tomas Cabaniel came in after two good innings from Mike Mitchell. Cabaniel walked the bases loaded. Marshall Hubbard then reached on a fielder's choice with the first run scoring. Cabaniel then was able to get a foul out and a force out to end the inning. In the ninth Marcus McBeth came in. Chris Colton led it off with a double to right. One out later, Brent Johnson doubled ot center to score Colton. A wild pitch moved him to third. Chen then grounded out to third, on the play Johnson scored. Green then singled to right. Mike Wilson would reach on an error by Petit at second. The ball went through the legs. Hubbard struck out to end the game.

Random Notes-...Tonights entertainment was the Zooperstars and tonights wasnt that bad as we got to see some other caracters than we usually see. Yoa Flamingo wasnt bad. Jordan Mackrel was ok. I still like Pee Wee Geese.......could someone please teach the Cougars how to grill a dog, they still have among the, if not the worst dogs in baseball. The Elfstrom Stadium Death Dogs.... I will say this though the Mike's Hard Lemonade isnt that bad
Alumni News:
