The Cougars would lead after three innings 1-0, that would be the last time the Cougars would led in the game. In the fourth inning the Bees scored four runs on two homers, then scored three more runs the next inning to take the first game of the series 8-2.
Tony Evans looked good for the first three innings as he gave up three hits, but was able to get out of trouble in the first two innings. Things just fell apart in the fourth for Evans as he was leaving pitches up, and his mechanics looked out of sync a little. J.R. Pickens did a great job in coming in relief of Evans. He pitched two and two thirds inning perfect.
Luis Perez started off the scoring in the first. He hit a solo homer to left. After that, Javier Herrera grounded out. Tommy Everidge then doubled down the line to left. Myron Leslie then grounded out to end the inning.
The roof fell in on the Cougars in the fourth inning. Rusty Brown led it off with a homer to left to tie the game. One out later, Geraldo Valentin singled to leftcenter. Kenard Springer singled up the middlle. Darwinson Salazar would hit a three run homer to left. Evans then walked Feipe Del Rosario. Irving Falu and Ed Lucas would both hit liners for out to end the inning.
The damage was done, as the Cougars looked like they had been beaten already, and it was only the fourth inning. In the fifth the Bees would score three more times. Damaso Espino led it off with a single to center. Rusty Brown was then hit in the shoulder by a pitch. Evans then hit Brian McFall with a pitch, the pitch grazed him on the forearm. The bases were now loaded with nobody out. Does this sound familar to any one else, or is it just getting old. Valentin then grounded out to second, Espino would score. Springer hit a double to center to score Brown and McFall. Pickens then came in for relief of Evans. Salazar would pop up to first for the second out. Del Rosario then grounded out to second to thankfully end the inning.
Kane County had some chances to score runs throguhout the game. In the second inning, with one out, Nick Blasi singled to left then stole second. David Castillo lined out to center. Gregorio Petit then lined to third to strand Blasi at second. In the sixth inning, Perez led off with a walk. Javier Herrera then hit into a double play.
Myron Leslie led off the seventh inning with a single to left. Raul Padron then singled to right. Blasi lined out to center, Leslie would tag up and go to third on the play. Castillo then hit a sacrifcie fly to left to score Leslie.

Random Notes-With the temp around 100 and it feeling somewhere north of that it was not much fun at the ballpark. Throw in the high humidity and it was no picnic at the ballpark....
Note-I will be in Appleton starting this Monday thru Thursday to see the Cougars play.
