The Cougars got behind early and couldnt play catch up well enough to come back and beat the Burlington Bees. The Cougars lost 3-1 to the Bees in the second game of the series.
Pat Hicklen pitched well for the Bees as he went seven innings of three hit ball. He gave up a solo shot to Myron Leslie for his tenth homer of the year. That would be the only run the Cougars got, they had some chances but just couldn't get that one hit again.
In the first inning with one out, Luis Perez grounded one to the pitcher, Hicklen then threw the ball into right field for an error. Perez would make it all the way to third. Javier Herrera then flew out to center. Tommy Everidge would walk, to make it first and third with two outs. Myron Leslie then hit into a force play to end the inning.
The next chance the Cougars had was the sixth inning, with one out, Perez singled to center. Herrera then walked. Everidge would hit into an inning ending double play.
Gregorio Petit led off the eighth with a single to center, he would get to second on a passed ball. Cliff Pennington then was caught lookin. Perez grounded out to first to get Petit to third. Herrera would strike out to end the inning. In the ninth, Leslie would hit a one out double to left but would be stranded there to end the game.
The Bees scored two rusn in the second inning. Rusty Brown led off with a single to left. Geraldo Valentin then singled to right. Kenard Springer also singled to right which would load the bases against Cougar starter Trent Peterson. Ed Solis would strike out for the first out. Cody Cure then singled to left to score both Brown and Valentin. Darwinson Salazar then flew to center to end the inning.
Brown would hit a two out solo shot in the third for the third run for the Bees. More chances for them in the fourth inning. Springer led off with a bunt single back to Peterson. He would steal second, one out later, Cure walked. Peterson then threw a wild pitch to put runners on second and third. Salazar then struck out for the second out. Falu would fly to center to end the inning.
Espino singled to center with one out in the fifth, a double play would end the inning. In the sixth inning with two outs, Solis and Cure would both single. Salazar then struck out to end the inning. In the seventh inning, Falu led off with a walk. Ed Lucas then flew to center. Espino and Brown both grounded out to end the inning.
